I'm sure this is similar in nature to Jay Leno's "Man on the Street" bits, in which he asks simple questions of passers-by and keeps only the most outrageously asinine responses. Still, America's yeomen farmers don't come across as real informed, do they?
killdevil: Whew, that's a relief. That said, geography can be tricky. I was recently re-reading Paul Theroux's 'Twin Pillars of Hercules' and when asked by my daughter about the location of Albania was gratified to be able to draw a thumbnail sketch of the whole of the Mediterannean. Those weren't farmers -- that was someplace like San Diego (palm trees).
But yeah, you wonder how many people gave him serious answers, or noticed that the map was mislabeled. On the other hand, geographical literacy in the US is very low compared to other nations.
Low? These morons couldn't even tell that Australia had been re-labeled "France." Here's hoping they are too stupid to find their polling place come October.
