Do you like Janeane Garofalo? [More:] I think she's, like, way cool because she's so dry and smart and funny. Also, I like her politics.

Anyway, I looked at her website today, and they're trying to get her a star on the sidewalk in Hollywood.

Now, I couldn't care less about the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In terms of my interests and priorities, the Walk of Fame is somewhere below makeup and hairstyles (and let me tell you, that's low).

But still, it made me a bit sad that they only have 15 signatures.

So what do you say, MetaChat? Can we do our part?

Sign the damn petition already.
I do like Janeane Garofalo. I like her very much.

I think she's unbearably georgeous and a fine actress and very smart. i sometimes wish she'd give the politics arest, but we all gotta do what we gotta do, I guess.

I signeded. I think she smart lady.

Never heard of her before, but she's kinda cute I suppose. Not cute enough to sign a petition, though.

I saw her on MTV once bitching about politics with Jon Stewart. Those two are great together, really funny, playing off each other superbly. I've liked just about everything I've seen her in from "Tales of the City" to "Dogma" and more.

i liked the roast comment by jeff ross that she could say to bad roles.
a good spot cost $100,000
seems silly but easy

Sweethearts.

For that alone, no.

that's what late night cable was made for
also so young film makers can wonder how it got made

I think she's awesome. Smart, cute and also has great comedic timing too. I'll sign the petition but only if they give her a better place than David Spade.

She's funny, and smart, and all that. But, even speaking as a lefty, it drives me nuts that she believes every wacked conspiracy theory that comes down the pike.

I was a fan of hers for years but then she slowly started being more annoying than funny. I've always thought her material was strong, but her stand up delivery was horrible. I like the company she keeps, which extended my tolerance for her for a while. Lately she seems to try too hard to be the alternative poster girl rather than being sincere.

She's my perfect woman. I know she would marry me if only she were to get to know me. Which will never happen.
posted by goatdog 03 October | 21:33
She'd marry me first, goatdog. You can have sloppy seconds.
posted by jonmc 03 October | 21:42
Sniff. It's because of your big... music collection, isn't it?
posted by goatdog 03 October | 21:51
ummm, yeah...that's it.
posted by jonmc 03 October | 22:00
Even after reading the wikipedia entry, I don't know who she is.
posted by mischief 03 October | 22:16
she's a reeeeealy sexxxxy(just look at that smile, *swoons*) stand up comic and actress.
posted by jonmc 03 October | 22:19
Now appearing on West Wing...and doing a damn fine job of it.

Never heard of her. But anyone with an Impeach Bush: It's the American Thing To Do ad on her website is okay in my book.
posted by Doohickie 03 October | 22:54
Really, you guys think she's hot? Last year, a guy I dated told me I looked like her and I took it as an insult. Huh.
posted by go dog go 03 October | 23:31
She is super cool, super hot, and damn funny. I like her much.

And yes, she is damn hot. You have to see her live, though. Her pictures don't do her justices. She is a really cute, cool, and smart personality.
posted by teece 03 October | 23:36
I listen to her every night on Air America and secretly dream she's speaking to just me and not jonmc or teece or goatdog or me3dia or especially mudpuppie. Just me.

No
I can only echo Slack-a-gogo.

In addition, if the folks who run the site want to see her on the “Walk of Fame” let them pay for it. If Janeane wants one she should shell out for it.

"In order for a person to get a star on the Walk of Fame, he or she must agree to attend a presentation ceremony within five years of selection, and a $15,000 fee must be paid"

Yeah, gee what an honor…

I don't think she'd sleep with me, but in my imagination, she at least lets me give her a big bear hug.
posted by Eideteker 04 October | 01:08
I never forgive her for stealing those three guys wearing suits book idea.

posted by drezdn 04 October | 01:25
I adore Janeane, though I haven't really seen much of her for many, many years (since I've been out of the U.S.). She was always one of my favorites... but Walk of Fame just makes me grit my teeth. I'd just rather not see her doing the whole kneeling-and-bowing-to-the-star thing.
posted by taz 04 October | 01:34
Yeah, I think she's hot. Both physically and with regard to her personality. I don't think I've known anyone that I think looks like her, though.
posted by kmellis 04 October | 01:48
Dear sweet wounded Jesus, I saw her in the unforgivable Nadine in Dateland and it was so obvious that she had gotten Botox for the role to look younger. Except it just made her look botoxed. She has such an expressive face that to see her not use that was just weird.

I like JG for all the reasons that I dislike Kathy Griffin. Somehow they are polar opposites in my world.
posted by dreamsign 04 October | 05:03
An ex told me she reminds him of me - not appearance-wise, since we look nothing alike, but in terms of personality. I was fine with that comparison.
posted by Orange Swan 04 October | 09:07
hrrmm. I respect her, and I like her political work....but I don't think she's funny.
posted by gaspode 04 October | 10:35
I used to like her, now not so much. She stopped seeming as funny. But I've always thought her politics were good.
posted by omiewise 04 October | 11:03
No. She's a put-down artist. Good for her. Not my bag.

That said, I have seen her be funny, very funny, before. But something about withering sarcasm doesn't make me laugh anymore. Unless it's extremely funny withering sarcasm, and I just don't get that from her.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something. She's probably really great, and I just don't know it. Oh well.
posted by Hugh Janus 04 October | 13:08
She looks nice and all that but I heard her on Air America Radio a while ago and quite frankly she sounds like a fifty year old wrinkly woman whose favorite perfume is Lucky Strikes.

Not that she shouldn't have a star - although why you'd want your name walked all over by indifferent tourists I don't know.
posted by dodgygeezer 04 October | 13:14
Wet. Hot. American. Summer.

the only thing those stars are good for is puking and pooping on, plpus maybe the occassional crack break. It is hollywood.
