Wood that works [flash] I don't know if I like these or not. The patterns are mesmerising but I think the novelty would soon wear off.
I agree. Interesting, but a little too organic and sort of buggy.

I think it would make me sick. (Also, I bet it would not get wound much after the intial period of infatuation, which makes it an expensive coaster at $1k.)

They used to sell these same wooden vortices out at St. Armond's Circle, near the fudge shop.

If you're looking to collect kinetic wood sculptures, I think you'll be better off with an Ian Burns His new show has some Abu Ghraib-inspired whirligigs and some nifty wooden flight simulator things.

I own one of these. (this one.) I quite like it; it makes a lovely irregular clicking noise, sounds like a fireplace crackling. And it hypnotizes houseguests.
