Looking for Help from NYC Peeps. My best friend from New Orleans and her s.o. are Katrina victims and I want to help them find a place to stay for free temporarily in NYC while they try to pull their world together. She's an award-winning photojournalist, and he's a well-known jazz musician. They have their dog with them.→[More:]

If you know of good folks with space to spare who are dying to help, these are two people I can vouche for 100%. I'll give you complete details with Google "references" by email (razzmataz funnycurlysign gmail.com). Please direct your other NY MeFi/MoFi friends (or others) to this post, too, if you will. Also, please indulge me if I make a bump post for this later in the day. Things are really tough for them right now, and my heart is breaking that I can't be there to help.

Maybe so... I still don't know about clothes, etc., but I'm pretty sure they are going to need networking help and then if they decide to settle in, of course they won't have any household stuff at all. I think they are still kind of in shock, so it's uncertain what they will do on a more permanent basis. If they manage to get to NY, I will try to get an "inventory" of essential things that are lacking.

Taz, all I got back was offers of some clothes which were going to be donated to go to NO. I think they're mostly boy clothes. If your friends need any of those, my peeps will set them aside. Wish my network was stronger. But space is such a premium here. sigh. Let me know about the duds.
