I have some friends who have posted at k5, but I never got drawn in.

I just went to have a look and found this as the latest post. I hope it's not even slightly representative, but I'm pretty sure that I will continue to successfully resist the impulse to visit.

taz: K5 became a pretty pathalogical site after a while. It started out pretty cool but, eh. Thank god I was finaly able to get a metafilter account.

oh, no... wait! The post was on the front page, which now that I go back and look, is helpfully labeled "Front Page", along with the explanation of what's contained on the front page: "The best stories of the day, chosen by you".

I went and got myself an account after hearing so much about it at Metafilter (and that april fools, remember?)... Fixed my preferences. Read some stuff. Rated some other stuff. Bought a textad. Wandered about for a bit. It didn't grow on me. *shrug*

I actually got to MeFi by starting at K5. Some of the stuff at K5 was pretty nifty, since it's member-written (like how-tos or whatever) but I don't remember the last time I was there.

Used to, more than 2 years ago, when k5 was the shit. Since then, 'the' got dropped.
