Wrestle the future to the fuckin' ground. Write every day, for not less than twenty or more than fifty minutes, a scene with only two voices and no other narrative description; "Don't think about what it means, don't think about who they are"; and, above all, "Don't think about what you're going to write before you do it." - An excellent (and lengthy) article on David Milch, creator of Deadwood.
This looks pretty good, although I've yet to read the whole thing. Thanks for the post.

This is a fantastic article. A friend of mine copied it for me when it came out.

Now what I want (and searched in vain on Google for it) is a transcript of the talk(s) he gave on screenwriting that he mentions in the article.

I'm with you papercake. I'd love to read those transcripts.

After having read that fucking article, I just have to say that that fucking Milch bastard has become my fucking God.

Once, when Clark was in New York, Milch called from Los Angeles and asked him to collect a quarter of a million dollars in cash that he'd won the previous weekend betting on football games. Clark was also aware of at least one occasion when he'd bet more than five times that amount on a single Sunday.

Fucking cocksucker.
