Boy, the Simpsons are about as funny in Japanese television commercials as they have been for about the last ten years on American television!

It's not just Japan, either... I see lots of ads that I bet U.S. (or maybe British) people don't see. Harrison Ford hawking cars, Madonna selling Maybelline, Harvey Keitel pushing whiskey...

The one I'm thinking of for Madonna was Maybelline (I'm 98% sure!)... and it was for lip gloss. In the commercial, she's sitting in a "star chair" being made up by a makeup artist, and she's talking in her fake British accent about wanting her lips to look luscious and kissable. Eww.

Yup, that's the Max Factor campaign. In another one when she's done being made up, she proves that the lipstick is kissable by smooching her co-star over and over in several "out takes". The joke at the end is that she doesn't want to stop when the director says "that's a wrap". Ugh.

They still running those in Greece?

Only if we play "worthless trivia" or "advertising trivia". In real trivia, I'm utterly useless. "What country is Jakarta in?" uhhhmm.. uh.. uh.. Oh wait I know I know this one.. uhhhmm.... (real trivia Q that made me loose last time. However I did know that "The Monkees" was the right answer to "what band was Mikey Dolenz a drummer in?")
