Dark Star ~32MB mp3
Their first single was The Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion). This song always rreminds me of amberglow. :-)

Jerry's first original song for the Grateful Dead was called Cream Puff War.

He wrote the words and the music. Just like he did for Cryptical Envelopment/The Other One.

Then he hooked up with Robert Hunter. He didn't have to write words no more. So he got into tunes...

It's still my favorite Dead song. "St. Stephen," is a close second.

I like "Cold Rain and Snow".

Tomorrow is another day and I will beat these evil FTP demons yet. More music upcoming. After midnight.

(I like Country Joe and the Fish better, though.)

Until I find the 70s here is some better stuff... Gomorrah. Another savage Hunter tune. ;-)

Beyond "Scarlet Begonias" here is my favourite Jerry Garcia song: Wharf Rat.

Never released on a record.

Among SF bands I like Santana, Steve Miller Band, CCR, Sly & The Family Stone, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Moby Grape and the Jefferson Airplane better. The Dead still weren't bad. Their latter-day fans were often very annoying, though. This old article in Hermenaut delineates the distinctions between Deadheads and neo-deadheads nicely. I acquired my appreciation from the former.

I love Quicksilver Messenger Service.

Here's
a Country Joe song, jon. (m4a; hope it works for you. I couldn't figure out how to convert it to mp3.)

Nice Choice, dude. m4a works fine on winamp. I'm actually uploading one of the nastiest hip-hop songs ever for use in a nother thread. I'll post it here too.
