In fact, that icon is one of the beefs I do have about the avatar idea, even though I posted it here as a joke. Avatars (or icons, in flickr's terminology) must be 80x80 pixels. That is, square. However, the logo that I painstakingly designed to resemble a football comprised of the letters "GFL" (the initials of my league, the Gnational Football League - the "G" is silent), is rectangular in shape, owing to the inherently pointy nature of a football. Upload it to flickr, though, and bang - it's 80x80 and square, and much harder to recognize as a football shape.

I'm not sure that stupid is a word I would have used. In fact, the more I think about it, if I found one that truly reflected the inner me (and I really have no idea what that is) I would be tempted.
