The best dives in Manhattan are The Mars Bar, Antarctica, and Jeremy's Ale House. I've never seen a celebrity in any of 'em, thank God.

I have good news and bad news, people.

The good news is that all this bar talk has inspired the offical call for a NY area MetaChat meetup!

Now for the bad news: it just took place five days ago, at Bugaboo Creek in Albany's Crossgates Mall.

Cherry Tavern's still there? Oh, man! That was the first dive where I ever became a regular, circa 1989.

How about Joe's Bar (aka No Fun Bar), a couple blocks down? Still there?
