Whaja do this weekend? If you forgot about the Okie Noodling tournament again this year, you can see some footage of what you missed. QT
last night i dj'd a polish wedding. the groom weighed 450 pounds and his bride was only slightly more dainty. most of the relatives were acutely obese. it was 100 degrees and high humidity, and they served platters of keilbasa, meatballs and chicken, cooked on site. the reception was in a church basement and the equipment had to be hauled down (and up) a tight switchback stairwell. a swell(tering) time was had by all!

I defragged my hard drives, 'cause I'm 1337.

Whaja do this weekend?

I went to the mermaid parade. I drank a lotta beer, ate some Russki food over in Brighton Beach, saw a lot of hot semi-clad babes (including one wearing nothing but nipple paint and a thong standing nonchalantly next to us, god bless her). Some dude snapped a picture of pips in her Bitchy Bitch "bitches unite!" t-shirt. Maybe it'll wind up on a blog somewheres. I wore *gasp* no flannel, and cut my jeans into shorts. I got some color. I didn't tan, I burned. Frankly, I'm surprised I didn't burst into flame. But a good time was had.

I went to a goth bar and got hammered.

Oh, all sorts of stuff. Dug some new beds. Mowed the lawn. Read. Saw the new Batman movie. Washed the dog. Went swimming. Bought stuff online. Etc.

I went to a friend's birthday party (21st--birthday, not party) and got drunk, and I was still drunk when I woke up the next day! I could tell because situations in which I got with the hot girl who was there actually seemed plausible. Then I mostly slept, and occasionally ventured outside to be beaten by the sun.

Saturday morning I went to Garage sales & then wrote some letters and caught up on school related reading during the rest of the weekend.

Went to a goth bar and wished I could have afforded to get hammered. And with all of twenty people there I couldn't even find someone to buy me a drink.
What a complete waste of a fabulous outfit that turned out to be.

The same boring depressing shit that I do every weekend. Thanks for asking.

I went to a classic car show and took pictures. Think the coolest hot rodded car there was a Morris Minor done up in barbie doll pink and white, complete with flames or maybe it was the Ford Fairlane or the Austin ... tooo many big shiny things with really nice paint jobs to really make up my mind though.

Happy birthday, seanyboy. What's it like being a perfect square?

I spent the wee early hours of Saturday (2-8am) in the Cambridge Hospital ER. I had a kidney infection a few weeks ago that came back with a vengeance. I got an IV and a CT scan, and very little sleep. I was also supposed to show up for my first day of a new job Sat. at 9am. Tried, but didn't make it.

Well, this weeked was pretty boring, except for Friday night where the whole lot of us went out for tapas and sangria and managed to ring up a $200 liquor bill in a little over an hour. LAST weekend, some of us drove out from east LA to the coast to bar hop in Hermosa Beach, passed out at a friend's house, woke up at 6:45 to drive inland to pick up a friend, then drove down to the Wild Animal Park in San Diego. Took pictures of the baby elephant. Fought of a hangover with greasy zoo food and copious amounts of water and exercise.

(happy birthday seanboy).

Happy birthday seanyboy.

I was in Austin, TX for all of the week, and spent today traveling back to NYC. Never been to Austin before, it was a lot of fun.

I threw a big bitchin' birthday party for seanyboy, but no one showed up. Thanks a freaking lot!

On the plus side, there's plenty of beer, ribs, and lobster tails left.

1) Attended funeral.
2) Catered post-funeral wake at the deceased's house.
3) Listened to deceased's ex-wife (and pre-humous best friend) talk about the ghosts now inhabiting the house.
4) At the wake, got in trouble with other adults for paying one of the younger kids to hit one of the older kids in the head with a frisbee.
5) Helped the ex-wife and her sister rummage through the trunk of the deceased's BMW, because the sister's toddler repeatedly toddled off into the garage. The ex-wife -- already seeing ghosts -- and her sister were convinced that the deceased was using the toddler's toddling to "tell us something." Apparently, he was trying to tell us about the tire iron, because that's all we found in the trunk.
6) Did some research into what to do if the deceased never gets around to removing an ex-girlfriend from the will.
7) Made note to update personal will and beneficiaries.
8) Left that craziness and spent two days in Monterey, my favorite place on earth.
9) Over the course of 18 hours or so, saw three weedings-on-the-beach, hundreds of little baby seagulls and cormorants, two tiny fawns, and an otter pup. Marveled at how the world figures out how to balance itself.
10) On the way home from Monterey, picked up the ashes of the deceased. He was very quiet on the drive home and didn't cause any problems.
11) Finally got home. Cats had puked on the carpet.

Yesterday I started the day by going to the men's breakfast our church has once a month at a local restaurant. Had a western omelet with jack cheese (as if you care).

From there I went to test for my green belt in Tae Kwon Do. And got it. Yay! I was basically lazy for the rest of the day.

Today, I went to church. We had a guest preacher: my wife. So that was kind of cool. Went out for lunch, then went to church again to see a friend of mine get ordained as a minister. So now I'm all churched out.

After that I finally got around to spending some quality workin-around-the-house time. I set up an automatic sprinker system (above ground) for my front yard. The tricky part was that the faucet leaked if left on, so I had to replace it before I could hook the system up to it. This involved getting a torch and removing the old faucet and "sweating" a new one on. I never did that before. Once I got the old one off, it was pretty scary because if it had leaked or whatever I wouldn't be able to turn the water back on in the house until a plumber came out. Amazingly I got it right the first time.

Saturday, went shopping for weekend food and a floor fan with Mr. taz, and stopped by a tiny neighborhood outdoor coffee/beer place for a couple of beers.

Sunday, made myself very popular with two two-year-olds (one, my nephew) by covertly spraying them with a water pistol while acting totally innocent and surprised by their protestations. Did the same with the adults at the party. A good time was had by me.

Watched DVDs of The Decline of the American Empire and The Barbarian Invasions, napped, and wondered what bookcase or other enclosed cranny the kitten could launch himself into at 80 mph next.

Happy birthday seanyboy!

Friday I went to the Museum of Science and Industry. I saw the Body Worlds exhibit and a bunch of other things. (I hadn't been there in years.) I also stopped at Taste of Chicago for a bit. (I work downtown so I'll be doing lunch there a few times...so no need to do all at once. : ))

Saturday I worked and then went to a Dips and Desserts social with Jaycees. Oh yeah, and I did laundry.

Sunday I slept way too late, watched the Cubs beat the White Sox (I love you Mark Prior. : )), bought some books, and had dinner at a friend's house.

happy somewhat late birthday seanyboy!

I cleaned the house, drank beer, hung out with my mom & my kids, weeded the garden, made a big pot of vegetable soup with mostly garden stuff yay summer, watched about 12 hours of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and seriously considered the possibility that for some reason or other I have been cursed by demons who are sending all the animals of the wild into my house.
Friday: one live dove, one dying bunny
Saturday: two dead mice
Sunday: one live small brown mean bird, one dead mouse

Or possibly my cat is possessed, since he's the one bringing them in. However I'm getting good at removing live birds from the house and I'm losing my fear of dead mice.

happy bday, seanyboy!

sorry to hear, ArsncHeart--i hope you're feeling better.

I went to the parade yesterday (there were fewer people watching this year--the heat?), was collapsing from the heat, then went drinking with friends--had a good time, am very much paying for it today.
