quonsar has been given something like six one-week timeouts, IIRC, but I'll let the man himself set the record straight on that one.

AlexReynolds is currently on timeout from both MeFi and #mefi - he's within spitting distance of being the first person to achieve the trifecta of banishment.

Not me, man - complete indifference is the way to go. Keep commenting and posting, just like you've always done, and when you're really, really ready, just stop. Don't even change your userpage, and make sure that your last comment was just an innocuous comment or a mild joke; nothing out of the ordinary. Then, never post again. Don't even look at the sites. At that point, it's Schrodinger's MetaTalk: for all you know - three months, six months, three years down the line, whenever - there is a thread (or more than one) full of comments like, "whatever happened to interrobang?" "yeah, I really miss him" "wow, he was great, wasn't he?", and as long as you never open the box, that outcome is just as likely as the alternative in which nobody notices you've gone.

Of course, if it was that easy, most of us would have stopped posting a long time ago.

That wouldn't get you banned - that's the admission test. It is possible to get banned/timeouted from #mefi, but you really have to work at it.
