I want to draw like common people More artists should emulate Jamie Hewitt's comic version of Pulp's "Common People." I'm imagining a Marjane Satrapi version of "Silent All These Years." Or Harvey Pekar illustrating "The River." What about Britney's "... Baby one more time" illustrated by Michael Manning?
cool. I'd like to see Lynda Barry do one.

Inspired! Just brilliant.

How about Bunny does (Talking Heads) "Once in a Lifetime"?

I thought I recognized the style, it's the same dude who does the Gorillaz.

I love Common People, it's such a great a song and Hewitt has actually done it justice - excellent stuff.

By the way, this'd be a good opportunity to plug Peter Blegvad's Leviathan - a songwriter who's also a cartoonist.

Or Harvey Pekar illustrating "The River."

This does not make sense to me. Harvey Pekar is a writer who has comic artists illustrate his autobiographical stories because he can't, in his own estimation, draw.

Duh. I know that. I can only plead fatigue and intoxication in my defense. Howzabout Peter Bagge?

If you like Jamie you might like Philip Bond. I think they're acquainted, actually. Many monkeys on his page, too! He has a simple yet very expressive style similar to Hewlitt's. In an age of superheroes with exagerrated, massive bods that make their heads seem all voodoo-shrunken, Bond has the odd habit of drawing real human proportions, which is refreshingly realistic and yet totally cool.

I remember ages ago I answered a question Philip Bond asked on a community forum, and so I demanded a reward. He drew, scanned and posted for me a picture... of a pile of steaming dog-poo with flies a-buzzing. It was sketched on Pokemon stationary with Pikachu in the corner. Thanks, man.
