Trends in change lately? is it hair cut season or is everyone just game for a change?
haircut season definitely--it's all of a sudden hot and muggy.

just a silly student of human nature, hoping to be surprised

posted by ethylene 07 June | 19:01
Yup. Summer. I've got a date with my scissors myself, even though amberglow said he liked my hair better when it was longer. Comfort before fashion, baby.

long hair is the lazy option. mine grows so fast, it's always a question of maintenance

let that be a warning to anyone attempting drastic hair color, ask yourself if you really wanna put in that time

*cannot bring myslef to pay for a haircut unless it's really worth it*

with this weather, it has to be comfort. : (

what color, ethylene?
posted by amberglow 07 June | 19:33
oh, i don't know what i have time to maintain
but i've been hearing of changes from hair to moving to x all over, not just in the summer places
posted by ethylene 07 June | 19:44
there is that odd instance of having a longish chat with a stranger
and having your hair hit the light
and them saying "oh, my god, what happened to your hair?"

i get enough flak walking down the street

*mulling how much i need people to care what i look like*
posted by ethylene 07 June | 19:48
that would depend on if you're single, and don't want to be, or not, etc. : >

i am so not interested on what would attract around here
i do miss the days when we freaks could pick each other out of a crowd across the continents.

Spooky, I just this minute had a haircut. And it's not even summer here! But in winter I want to wear a nice warm hat, and that requires short hair unless you want to take your hat off and have ridiculous hat-hair all over the place. Ridiculous.
posted by nomis 07 June | 20:18
actually i see it as a fall out of things that occurred in the last two months

some took the change by the horns, some feel the reaction

Who needs the Gilmore Girls when you have us? We're a lot more entertaining.

Hey I just got a haircut too. Long shaggy layers. Messy. I like it. Didn't know I was so predictable.

let me jonmc it up further now to explain i think it's funny to say the gays and the jews because i know so many
and then they sound like the feldman's down the street
posted by ethylene 07 June | 21:16
what about those of us that are both (and dating that nice Feldman boy from down the street--the one that's pre-med)? ; >
posted by amberglow 07 June | 21:20
you're special
you're the gay jew who knows both the jew gossip and the shade talk

so are there still more jews in the nyc area than isreal?

A woman (I think) after my own mind.

For me, one haircut every six months. And one of those biannuals is performed by my mother during my trip home for the holidays.
posted by mudpuppie 07 June | 21:50
actually, i'm a chick who know hasn't got a "haircut" in years, maybe a decade or more.

people get very attached to your hair. not you, your hair. After having really long hair for along time i knew people would not recognize me with short hair
and the stories are hysterical--
man, i have apologies to make
i'll pay for art
because i vote with my money
because there is so little if nothing else

mudpup: did you find a tattoo idea?
posted by ethylene 07 June | 21:58
what's worse is when people tell you that they love your hair when you've always had a hateful relationship with it -- going back to the days when your mother used to force you to endure the curling iron and the sponge curlers --- the sponge curlers! --- and would spank when you, in rebellion, finally combed the curls out.

and tattoos -- i think we've settle on the compass, although i think futher research is possibly warranted.

another aside: would everyone really be happier if i conformed to more standarized textual usage and rhetoric? And personal disclosure?
Seriously, is that what you want?

*must kill a moth and hope it's a dead relative*

mudpup: i could do a mock up of variations, free of charge if you like
if you tell me your location, i could reccommend someone

ethylene: dear lord yes! granted, english text, as a purveyor of thought, is a crude means of communication. but until the rest of us learn telepathy, (~relatively) standardized textual usage and rhetoric will have to suffice if you wish for your audience to hear/feel/grok you. not that i'd want to cramp anyone's style, but i thought this would all be fairly self-evident. else, you may as well be honking, beeping, and gibbering.

Short hair = hairdo.

Long hair = braid and go.

I cut mine when it's too long ie: sitting on it.

ethylene.. in today's fashion world, you can have it any way you want. There are temporary tattoos (up to one month so you can be hotstuff at Burning Man), temporary hair colours, temporary skin colours; temporary almost anything you want, even long hair, but good extensions are time-consuming and expensive.

Long hair is the new black. Be cool; let it grow. Free yourelf from style and become hip.
posted by reflecked 08 June | 07:09
Man, you people with your long hair so have straight hair, don't you? I don't even know how to begin attacking your ignorance of the ways of the (real) curls. If you have curly hair, you can only comb it in the shower when there is conditioner in. That means you can never be as low-maintenance as you want, because your hair can only go progressively more up. Showers take at least half an hour.

However, you can cut your hair yourself because it doesn't need to be even: the curls never dry the same way twice. But no matter what, you look kinda cute, because it's just some curls sitting messily on your head. Maybe a little product to combat the frizz and you're good. Showers take minutes and there is no such thing as bedhead.

For the curls long hair demands style, while short just is. Down with the hegemony of the straight haired!
posted by dame 08 June | 11:43
nope. My hair is really curly; that's why keeping it long helps.. the length pulls the curl straighter. Cutting means pulling hair out to one side with arm straight and cutting off everything that hangs over the edge of the hand.

But yeah.. down with the straighthairs! Long n' curly is the way to cool.
posted by reflecked 08 June | 14:44
How on earth does it being long help? It certainly isn't wash'n'go. Ours must be different, because length never even helped that much; it was a bit striaghter at the roots, but not really worth mentioning. And the weight. And the heat. Ack. I just cut off all mine (jabbing at head with scissors) and now I am so light, so free.
posted by dame 08 June | 15:37
You that are whining about curly hair should be fucking grateful that you have hair, is all I can say. One thing I will say, though is why does it cost me the same to get less than half a head of hair cut as it would if I had a full head of hair? It really sucks that I pay the same as everyone else when a haircut takes all of 3 minutes.

would everyone really be happier if i conformed to more standarized textual usage and rhetoric? And personal disclosure? Seriously, is that what you want?
Communicate in any way you want - if we don't understand, does it really matter? If, by some chance, you want us to have the faintest idea of what you are saying, though, you may like to try forming the occasional coherent sentence. Otherwise, just be yourself.

Dame.. heh .. ours are different. All i know is that short, I have a moptop of wild curls, and long, I have waves with curls on the ends. Wash and go is what I do; braid in the shower, and I'm off.

dg.. You are paying for a hairdo. Bald men are sexy, btw.
