What? So, this knife butt thing? What dat all about? I hate it when I miss out on new injokes and stuff.

taz sort of explains here, and if you really want to see the picture that kept getting repeatedly posted to the main page (and inside the comments) I'm sure buttes would be happy to email it to you. Either our MeCha overlords are very forgiving folk, or they haven't figured out how to work the banhammer yet.

Knives in butts have been around as long as there have been butts, and knives.
The human drive to modify our bodies is a very, very old one. Along with contemporary facial tattoos and filed teeth, piercing has become more and more radical, with people trying to push the envelope.
When the drive to modify ones' self surpasses their ability to think critically, you get knives jammed into butts. Voila!
