Censorship already? So "Come on over and post about anything you damn well like." didn't really mean what it says?

I can sort of understand the dirty short story (kind of), but what about the lorem ipsum thread?

In my defense, "Come on over and post about anything you damn well like." reads like an IRC free for all. Which can be lots of fun. And has been.

I guess it all depends on what your definition of "nice things" is. Shitcock.

loquacious, I didn't care about the money shot comment or any other comment. All I was concerend about was the images on the front page, because I have no way of filtering them and it creates a problem for me at work. I had already implemented a solution, which was not to visit metachat at work. No biggie - just that, due to time zones, work time for me is play time for most of the world.

The last thing I wanted was for images to be banned - look up and you will notice that I started this thread saying WTF? to censorship when the message given was "Come on over and post about anything you damn well like."

Personally, I prefer the idea of not havnig images on the front page but, if the price is no images at all, then that is too high.

Bring back the images in comments, I say!

Oh, I forgot to say, that "deprecated" just means that it's turned invisible until somebody figures out what to do with it. The fake ethereal bligh post won't be coming back, because even though I'm really fine with the flow on most stuff, impersonating another user is totally not cricket when it comes to my wicket.

Other posts that were deprecated were reinstituted, with a NSFW header on the front page, leading to the post on the inside. Not the bloody anus images though, because... well... just call us bloody-anus-nazis. We're just that perverse.

ok, thanks (i don't care about the images, really, but i was curious about the eb thread).

if you're very concerned about consistent IDs, you could do something like was done with the mefi political survey (or whatever it was) and require people to put some value (supplied by the system here, generated at random) in their mefi user profile. the idea being that you wouldn't enable the account until you detected the value in the profile (assuming the name was a valid mefi username).

i don't think it's worth the bother myself, but i don't think i care as much as you about consistent identities (and the geek in me can't resist suggesting a complicated technical fix for simple social problems).
