Get thee to a corsetiere This is one freakin' all encompassing site. I can't believe just how much information they've got stowed in here. Obsessional to the point of fetish.
Metachat: Unmentionables.

damn!

If this hasn't been blogged to death, you should deinitely (for sure) post this at mefi!
posted by taz 23 May | 13:03
Oh..you can post it taz.....can't have my peccadillos being aired in public. *cough*
(shouldn't have been blogged to death and it hasn't been posted to MeFi -- I did think about it -- I actually think it's not too old)

Well, if you don't want to post it, someone should post it "via metachat". I can't, because I have something to do with the site, so it would be a self-link of sorts.

Sound foundations are so important

if ever i have the spare dosh, i hope to have a custom corset made, although by attempts at it by hand are, ahem, amusing in their own many ways--
posted by ethylene 23 May | 13:15
wellll....you could cite bibi's box instead :)
posted by peacay 23 May | 13:15
okay, I will, if somebody else doesn't. I'd prefer not to link to something I found via metachat, without mentioning metachat though. If I were somebody else, I would post it via metachat/bibi's box.

Don't forget to mention spook! (scroll down to see her 12 inch waist)
posted by iconomy 23 May | 13:24
Ummm?
posted by taz 23 May | 13:28
Wow...that's ummmmm a sickness of sorts.
posted by peacay 23 May | 13:30
i was thinking more of the uplift, not restraint

segueway to: i don't think anyone should have a problem posting it to meef. it's not disingenuous, just a good find.
(although, there is a budding bitch on meTa at last look on whether rainbowbrite and unicorns are "good enough")
posted by ethylene 23 May | 13:34
Oh, sorry - spook's waist is 15 inches, not 12. What a fatty.
posted by iconomy 23 May | 13:43
I actually own half a dozen steel-boned corsets, and I still think Spook is creepy as all get out.

I really wonder if she can even sit up without a corset now. Seems like there would be a point of no return in terms of atrophy.

I think the poster to MeFi ought to own a corset -- more authenticity. First in best dressed.
posted by peacay 23 May | 14:05
kellydamnit - I was thinking about those African women with their neck rings - take them off and they won't be able to hold their heads up. Same sorta thing.
posted by peacay 23 May | 14:06
i aint strapping in or up in an ill fitting thing just for that right now. lurd knows, i'm putting enough behind posting so much now.

btw, a well made garment for support is very comfortable and helps the posture. (thinks of a short lived ep collaboration we called "strapless freedom")
posted by ethylene 23 May | 14:11
if that doesn't lead to butt lift wear next, i dunno what to think
posted by ethylene 23 May | 14:13
Ethylene, how about actual butt lifts? (not safe for work)
posted by iconomy 23 May | 14:29
This is awesome and yet highly disturbing. Then again, I think bras are confining.
posted by dame 23 May | 14:34
i do, too, dame, which is why i started working on variations, and in a lot of ways that old timey corset (like in Quigley Down Under) thing worked well.
icon: i meant the butt lifting garments they started to come up with--
man, i wish i had the time to go on, babble and link, but i gotta run.
hopefully i'll have something interesting or have figured out some stuff on bugs and bugaboos if i get a chance to get back later.
But someone link it already, from here. That good to be square thing was fabulous, probably too fab for 'fites.
posted by ethylene 23 May | 14:56
there used to be a guy downtown in the 80s who wore one--he had an 18 inch waist supposedly, with it on.
posted by amberglow 23 May | 19:04
Aww...someone post it to the blue !!
I've used my ration for the day.
amberglow? You got any other *cough* axes to grind today? Make up a corset FPP..you know you want to ;- )
posted by peacay 23 May | 19:17
nah--if i post today, it'll be about all the "deals" being made about the filibuster, or this list of lovely fellows
posted by amberglow 23 May | 20:07
np....you sharpen that axe!
posted by peacay 23 May | 20:13
*sharpens, grinds, tests it on Frist and DeLay*
posted by amberglow 23 May | 20:49
I'd love to get a corset. I'm well-endowed, and I figure it's the only way I'll ever get to go strapless.
posted by Orange Swan 24 May | 08:49
when my bustier fit, it was fabulous, like armor and support--
i remember joking a while ago that if i lost any more weight i would i would lose a boob and an arm. no one ever laughed: men looked confused and women would just nod sagely.
this is far from a problem anymore, but i'll be damned if i'm laying out for another premade corset--
*mourns for clothes that never got their chance in the spotlight*

i can't wait for these things to shrink some, but i had no idea of what my friend was dealing with post breast feeding, although she apparently harbors little boob love--
