I was scheduled to spend 2 weeks with the rest of my team out in San Jose, CA one summer. Filled with dread, I called my folks during my usual weekly chat.
me: "What the hell am I going to do out there for TWO WHOLE WEEKS?!"
mom: "Oh, Go! It will be fine!"
me: "yeah, I guess it could be worse. I could have one eye or something."
mom: "yeah. and it could be in your belly button, and then you wouldn't be able to go to the party as 'smoke gets in your eyes' because you wouldn't have anyplace to hang your smudgepot."
me: laughs hysterically, has a ball in CA for 2 weeks.
