Happy thanks giving bunnies What are you up to today?
I cooked and took food for friendsgiving nearby. It was a chill day; and now our weather is going to follow up with our first hard freeze of the season.

It was Thanksgiving here a month ago so this evening I just did digital maintenance and hygiene. Removing old accounts, changing passwords and updating info.

mightshould, it looks like we may get our first freeze tonight too.

Here in the NL we have our own national holidays. But I like the idea of 'appreciation day'.

I myself am glad that metachat still exists. Brings me back to, say, 2008. When the internet held untold promises.

So nice to see the familiar handles. _waves_

Today (Friday) is my non-working day. Instead of working two five-day Monday-Friday 35-hour weeks, instead I work 70 hours over 9 working days, and so get every other Friday off.

Today I have plans. A little shopping, a coffee and a cake with a friend. Then, this evening, my big, big treat to myself for Christmas. I'm going to see Tosca at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Tosca is my all-time favourite opera, and I've splashed out on a decent seat in the orchestra stalls because, well, I deserve it. The price of the ticket is more than I've ever paid for a theatre ticket in my life, but I'm sure it'll be worth it.

Sounds absolutely lovely, Senyar! Enjoy.

I like the idea of Thanksgiving. It's secular, there's no presents involved, just food, people you care about (hopefully) and being thankful. I've never lived anywhere that has it but the idea is very appealing.

(Hi MeChatters! Long time no see)

Had Thanksgiving dinner at a friend's house and made friends with a gigantic doggie -- only 8 months old but part Saint Bernard and part Standard Poodle so big big doggie and loaded with puppy energy. So happy to see all the guests! Drove back home in a snowstorm but made it safely. Today is another day off and will spend it relaxing with the cats.

Aww, mightshould, arse_hat, Senyar, goo, JanetLand! So nice to see you. Unbelievable that I first commented here 16 years ago.

I do hope people will post a lot of threads.

Hellooooo! My spouse made enchiladas, squash soup, refried beans, Mexican rice, and a pavlova for dessert. My best friend joined us with wine and cheese. We may go see Wicked today.

I have been working for the past week and a half, straight, no days off, until Thanksgiving Day. My other half came here, and while we had the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade on (on the tv, but also streaming live on YouTube because I really want to see all of the parade, not listen to the commentators) we made a big breakfast for us and my two grown sons.
Then I made my traditional sausage stuffing, and Son 2 made his speciality Mac n Cheese (Other Half made an apple crisp) and we trekked to my brother's for the meal with him, his lovely wife, our mom, and her partner. Everything was excellent (my brother smokes the turkey in his smoker), the converstion was wonderful (no one brought up anything about the recent election, which was a relief because I am mostly alone in my leanings).

Back to work on Friday the 29th. However - despite the very chilly forcast, we are attending the last vehicle races of the season on Saturday, and just found out our favorite driver (whom we know personally) will be there too!

I have a lot to be thankful for, and I am grateful. I am so very glad I get to connect with everyone on here still, too. I hope everyone has a lovely holiday season.

Edited to add: Senyar, that sounds ...I can't find the right words... fantastic! Amazing! A wonderful experience! I'm so happy for you!

So, it's 4:30 AM on Sunday and I'm reading everyone's updates.

Hello each and every one of you!

One of my jobs is retail so you can imagine how the last two days have been. Today will be likewise.

But the good thing is that I work in the garden center of a big box home improvement store (that awful one that didn't donate to the campaign.) And it's cold outside but the customers are mostly pleasant because they're buying xmas trees. And it is especially wonderful that our trees come from the local mountains of NC; a region that was partially devastated by massive flooding. And for this weekend we're running a special of 25% off a fresh cut tree. I predict that we'll be mostly sold out by the end of today. (More trees are arriving on Tuesday.)

So that's a bit of holiday cheer!

Belated Thanksgiving Update: We had 11 people over including us. First gathering in our "new" house and it served well; it's a small space but we crammed in. I think the food was good, but I was kinda distracted by hosting so I barely remember tasting it. I know the turkey was really good because I stole a few pickin's right out of the oven. I inadvertently gave away some of the best leftovers, too. Anyhow, it was fun.

The parade is a highlight for me. I commented on Facebook that it serves the function of the football game, except for theatre kids.
