One of my cats has a cat now? Ginger, my feral cat apparently has a cat now. For the third night in a row there is a new cat here.[More:]

He or she does not seem to be feral. It is either someone's cat who is out in the evenings or it is a stray. It is big and healthy and does not seem hungry but it shows up each evening and follows Ginger and mrows at him. Ginger is not happy.

The cat follows and Ginger gets upset. He does not want an acolyte. I have no idea what is going on.
We've all been there. Somebody mrowing at us.
Maybe Ginger will have a change of heart.

I see a future: No I don't have 27 cats. I have cats who have cats and some of those cats have cats...

Just cats all the way down.

My local cat rescue is currently advertising lots of cats for rehoming. They have some, er, unusual names. Ubereats, Grubhub, Deliveroo, Jamiroquai...

Rudi would never have another cat, he's very much a loner. He and Ralphie, who lives down the street, seem to have worked out their power struggle which happened when the local bully cat, Hunter, died a few months ago. Ralphie rules one end of the street, and Rudi is King of the other. There's a new lovely little cat, Viggo, who wants to be friends with Rudi, but he is having none of it.

I absolutely love the idea of Ginger having his own cat, though.

So much drama! The next night the new cat came round and so did Buddy Guy. Buddy was a feral/stray that showed up last fall but just about the time I was ready to trap he he stopped showing up. He came back and had a meal and I went in.

When I went out again Ginger was right at the door and began meowing and strutting which means something has him spooked but now that I'm here we are going to kick ass. I scanned around and saw the biggest possum I have ever seen. I had no idea they got that big.

When I got to the patio the possum left but there was blood all over. On the concrete, the table, the water bowl, and in the water. I don't know if the possum was bleeding or if perhaps it had brought something along for lunch and it still had blood. Anyhow I had to clean everything up.

So a big night for Ginger. Thankfully last night it was just him and I and he seemed very happy for that.

Rudi. Always walking alone.

Ubereats, Grubhub, Deliveroo,? Really running out of ideas.

Strays know us....
I now have a feral black panther boi who I've been feeding over this winter. He has some hidey hole he goes to because he eschews using the heated bed I purchased. Fortunately our winters aren't severe.

When he first appeared, although he was skinny, he wouldn't get near me. Now he's right there and often is waiting. Sometimes he swats at me when I'm putting down the food bowl (maybe it's extra hungery days...)

I will try and trap him, then spend the $ to have him fixed, vaccinated and at least first flea treatment. I hope that eventually he allows me to apply the monthly flea prevention.

I would love to allow him in, but my Bertie Wooster is like Rudi and will accept nobody but his current indoor buddies.
