13 March 2020

Pretty much given to the idea that we are going to get Covid 19 if it sweeps through here. My wife is director of nutrition and food for a retirement home so not able to do all that from home.

All I keep thinking is I'd like to be in a dance club. Been listening to a lot of dance stuff the last few days.

Also, people making runs on toilet paper and hand sanitizer but soap, detergent and cleaners are all still in stock?

My current mood is rrrrraaaaage_@#$! unfortunately. I'm really frazzled. Mom had another/continuation of UTI and has been nonsensical. It's starting to ramp down now but seems likely to recur. I'm trying to work but don't know what the future holds after Monday.

Seeing how this country cannot get even the basics of civilization figured out is red hot infuriating and hearing naysayers blowivate is causing further rage and discouragement.

I need to follow your lead and put on some dance music, grab a cat and annoy the heck out of it as we chase the grar away.

Gah. Sorry mightshould, Aging parents are a big thing to deal with and having a pandemic does not enhance the experience. Hugs.

I am feeling very stressed and anxious. I've had a cough for weeks, a post-viral thing from the flu I had in January. But my chest is feeling tight, I had nausea and diarrhoea in the middle of last week, and I immediately go to the worst case scenario, even though I have had no fever nor any other symptoms of Covid-19.

The UK Govt's approach to Coronavirus is to allow herd immunity to develop, at the risk/expense of many deaths. This seems to be at odds with the approach taken by most of the rest of the world. I am really quite scared and worried.

I was away with family this weekend, but from tonight I'm going to be self-isolating, other than for my daily walk with my friend in the forest with her dogs, and an errand on Thursday where my car has to go in for its annual MoT test, which isn't something I can skip as the car won't be insured without it.

I work from home 80% of the week and there's no need for me to go in at all, so I'm not going to. I have plenty of food and toilet paper, Rudi has more than enough cat food for the next few weeks.

I need to stop reading social media and news reports. It's not good for my mental health.

mightshould, I'm so sorry about your mum, I know this is very hard for you.

Live long and prosper, oneswellfoop.

I also need dance music. But I wouldn't dare try and dance with Rudi. He's very bitey.

I just heard about this UK approach from my cousin in Ireland (they love to track stupid things Boris is doing) and I could not quite believe it. I really could not. It's an intentional human sacrifice and they are choosing winners. I really don't think I've ever heard of the like.

I'm sorry for all the troubles.

I've got some challenges too. I got laid off Friday because my employer wasn't prepared for this.

So, in conclusion, fuck the Rona.

I hear you, Senyar. I've been feeling like I'm trying hard to come down with a cold for almost a week now, including a cough centered in my chest. Given that I don't get out of the house much, I seriously doubt it's anything to worry about, yet I'm extremely anxious about it. There isn't a whole lot I can do about it, though.

I also have heavy constant sinus drainage that results in me constantly coughing/clearing my throat. I've had this condition for many years, but, on the few occasions I venture out into public, it makes me feel like I have a target on my back, or that people are going to run away from me screaming.

Oh yes to the coughing concern. Mine is simple allergies "hello spring!" But it is stressful to be constantly monitoring and I don't even have any complicating issues.

Yes! I've been googling a lot of symptoms over the last few days and I'm fairly certain that I have chronic catarrh. I never get a runny nose, ever. But I always feel as if I have to clear my throat or cough, and sometimes it brings up crud, sometimes not. I have lots of trouble with my left ear and often have to clear/pop my ears. About 30 years ago I saw a ENT specialist who told me I have a narrow Eustacian tube in my left ear, so I get pressure build-up. But I'm 99% sure now that I have chronic catarrh, made worse by the virus I had in January.

Miko, I am so very, very sorry to hear your news. Love to you and L_T.

I've got a sinus\back of throat thing that hits me every fall and spring. Nothing really seems to help.

Miko, so sorry to hear that. I have a feeling more lay offs are coming as we we move into travel\tourist\outdoor event season.

Hugs to you all. I am wearing the hugs outfit.

The herd immunity approach may overwhelm the health care system and I hope they wise up. Somebody got to the US Denier-In-Chief; he's trying to act like it matters now. Whoever it was taught him some phrases.

Miko, it sucks. It's sucking for so many people but that doresn't make it less sucktacular for you. Maine's Governor and the head of MaineCDC are quite good and that helps a lot. hugs.

Raking some leaves up and it is so odd to have so much quiet on such wonderful spring days.

Senyar, I'd love to know more about your bouts with catarrh. I've never heard of it, and my docs have never mentioned it, but the symptoms sound very much like what I've been dealing with for umpteen ages. I'd MeMail you, but it doesn't appear you're actually at MeFi (unless you're under a different name)
