Oatmesl I like nice warm comforting oatmeal on cold mornings but am not as fond of the slimy consistency [More:]
so I usually undercook it.

I just tried something different: I toasted the raw oatmeal first. Heated milk in soup mug in microwave; put in a bit of vanilla and sweetener; then poured in the sizzling hot oats; let it sit for a few mins to rehydrate and presto: nice toasty flavored oatmeal without the slime.

It takes more oatmeal per liquid since it's less starchy. But it's a nice change.
Oooh, that sounds good. I'll try that. I always add cinnamon to my oatmeal too.

A couple of questions though: how much oatmeal do you pour into the toaster, and is it difficult to get it out again?

For myself, it works best to remove the crumb tray and balance the toaster over a bowl. Then you just have to jam the lever down & dump oats into the bread slots. When one bowl fills up, swap it out for the pouring bowl and repeat until toasty. While I'm not fond of unitaskers, I do not recommend heating the milk this way.

I use a blowtorch now since my toaster didn't seem to like the milk very much.

Doesn't that take a while? I'd be a little worried about singeing my fingers as I hold each oat up to the flame.

Electric toaster? Wow talk about rich people problems. We toast over fallen sticks we are allowed to gather from the king's land.

Man, your king allows you to gather fallen sticks? Talk about lucky. Mine makes me pedal for my oats. It really slows things down when you have to keep getting off the bike to swap out the oat bowl.

But I bet you can dance all night long at the solstice festival.

Officially we can dance all day (aside from morning oat prep) but when night falls, it's back on the bikes to power the castle lighting. Don't tell the king, but LED technology means we really only need Harry to pedal. It's OK, he drew the short straw.

Harry? Is he the one that used to be a prince but quit?

What can I say, Vancouver Island housing is pricey. I don't know about any prince business, but he has the calves of a king and would be cheap at twice the price.
