Friday Question NOT from the Book of Questions: US Election edition How are you all doing? This has to be the most disturbing election season I've ever seen.
Hanging in there! I see the light at the end of the tunnel. So curious to see how my local races shake out.

Watching from across the Atlantic, it's both fascinating and horrifying.

I really wish that our presidential campaigns were not so goddamn looooooong. It's been at least a year and a half of this nonsense. I have election fatigue. I just want to get the whole thing over and done with.

Samantha Bee completely nailed it when she described the beta-Trump regime I've been living under for 6 years now. Having a "leader" who doesn't understand the basic principles of civilized discourse has been nothing but astonishing, infuriating, and depressing.

When I heard that orange jackass (is that what the J stands for? Jackass?) was running for President I got a sinking feeling that has never gone away.

Boyfriend has pointed out that even if all these recent scandal storms make some people change their minds and vote for HRC, they will probably still vote Republican for Congress, which means we will once again have a Democratic President but a Republican Congress and enjoy much of the same deadlock we've enjoyed for the past 8 years. So I don't see a lot to look forward to even with an HRC victory. But hey, at least we won't have a President who sexually assaults half the staff . . . .

I have such a low standard now for politicians. Are you NOT batshit-insane? Really? Then come on in! That's all I require anymore: Don't be batshit-insane. And half the time I don't even get that.

I'm avoiding as much election coverage as possible. I even got an absentee ballot so I could avoid the day-of gauntlet.

The only way I can handle it is having a head-in-sand;fingers-in-ears; la la la; I can't hear you policy.

From across the Atlantic it looks pretty horrific. But here in the UK we don't have much to brag about in re. civic discourse and sensible politics just now...

Can the candidates laugh at themselves and each other? Or are they mortal enemies? Thst's what is explored at the annual Al Smith Dinner.
