Friday Question NOT from the Book of Questions: Name two things you do quite well
1. I am surprisingly good at figuring out what spices to add to things. My husband, who is a remarkable cook (I am not) often deploys me for this purpose.
1. House painting. I was a professional for years before I went back to school and I can still cut a razor sharp line with a brush with no masking tape.
2. Software test automation, which is what I get paid for these days. Not exactly sexy but it keeps me employed.
1. Cook. Nothing terribly fancy, but what I do make is tasty and people seem to enjoy it.
2. Find out things. I have good research skills and the internet has only served to enhance them. This comes in really useful at work, where I am seen as some kind of oracle with the ability to dig up obscure bits of useful information.
1. Pick handbell music for my church. And I have picked virtually all of it over the past 20 years. My friend in a professional choir says that ours is the "best church repertoire in New England." :D
2. Bake pies. I don't know why people complain about how difficult it is to make the crusts. You just throw some ingredients together and roll it out. :) I'm pretty good at baking in general, too.
1. I'm a good bridge player, and a nice partner (which doesn't coincide as often as one would like).
2. Despite the fact that my self-talk has me as somewhat of a misanthrope, I am often told that I am kind, and - per a thing I am good at - a good listener.
Your photos are not just very good, they're fucking awesome! That you don't have thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment makes that doubly true.
1. I can compress any text to spec almost undetectably. If you need to hack something down 20% without resorting to resection, I can do it. You'll barely notice the difference.
2. I think I'm pretty good at figuring out the context in which another person's behavior makes sense. If I take the time to think about it, I generally get why people think or do the things they do.
