MetaChat is an informal place for MeFites to touch base and post, discuss and
chatter about topics that may not belong on MetaFilter. Questions? Check the FAQ. Please note: This is important.
Stewriffic just told me about this thread -- you people are wonderful!!! I was afraid the campaign would just sit there for months and never reach the goal (like a 2014 campaign I saw to get $5000 to rent a billboard to show support for Rob Ford and which earned $26 in 90 days, heh), and here it is at $640 out of $1000, less than 48 hours in.
I never left MetaChat, but I haven't been hanging out here much at all lately. I'm connected with quite a few MeChazens on Facebook, so posting there more or less fills the need that posting here used to. But I'll make an effort to come here more often now.
I would like to thank all you tasty, tasty bunnies for chipping in. Although I want the person to spend the $1000 on treats instead of surgery, as it would make me much happier than scary vet visits, post-op discomfort, and a Cone of Shame, she says no way. You humans can be really obtuse sometimes. Cat perspective is not only the best perspective, it's the only perspective.
I suppose there are upsides to the surgery. My tumour may get in the way of my ambition to become an international spycat. (I mean, it doesn't bother me, but international spies are supposed to be all suave and handsome and perfectly groomed. I might have had to become an international baddie instead.) Also the person will have to stop calling me Tumour Head once it's gone. I have many aliases and that was probably my least favourite.
Glad I could help, if even a little. Hope you guys have many more years together. People in the US should note the fundraiser is in CAD, so your USD will go a little further thanks to the exchange rate! That made me feel very international!
If Trilby's fundraiser reaches the $1000 goal, and you were wanting to give, you still can!
I think OS ought to have added some on there given the situation. GoFundMe will take some off the top, and OS didn't account for any follow up vet visits or possible contingencies.
Thanks to everyone. Trilby has been a great contributor to MeCha over the years!
