RIP ARTFL 1911 Roget's Thesaurus I've been using it since the mid-nineties sometime, but the University of Chicago recently took it down. I'm so sorry it's gone. I used it almost every day.[More:]

There's a 1922 version at Bartleby, but it isn't as well cross-referenced.

It's rare that thesaurus.com offers up anything I wouldn't think of myself.

Does anyone know of another version out there?

I use Artha.

There is the Gutenberg.

See, arse_hat, that's the Gutenberg entry I'd seen before, book 22, without inline links.

But! After some poking around I found a different entry, book 10681, of which the 2.5 MB html version is thoroughly cross-linked online. I'm so glad.

I rarely use a thesaurus any more since most of my writing is drafting related and making it clear for someone with a basic education.

I used to enjoy writing term papers and absolutely loved writing my thesis. Now, I simply enjoy reading books.

I haven't thought about thesauruses in so long. Maybe thirty years since I've used one?
