Mr. Zeek the streak It's so difficult to let a companion go, especially when you're the one making the decision. [More:]A week ago I knew it was "time" since my beloved 17 y.o. kitty wasn't able to keep control of anything. So I spent that night cuddling him and saying goodbye. I took him to his vet's office Tuesday morning and brought his remains home to place near the huge old dogwood tree at my place. It's been a difficult week missing my buddy.
Oh, Mightshould, I am so sorry.

Sending hugs to you from me and Lucy. I know how much he meant to you.

Sorry for your loss and your link doesn't work for me.
17 years is quite a long time to know someone.

Doesn't work for me either. It took me over a year to start over again, but a month ago, I got a kitten and a 2 year old cat (which the vet told me is closer to 8 years old).

Beautiful boy. I am so, so sorry. There is very little as hard as losing a furry friend.

Sounds like a tough loss. What kind of personality did he have?

Mr. Z was a purr monster. I saw someone dumping him at the end of our very long dirt driveway and of course the kitty hobo sign pointed him in our direction.

He was happy as long as he had his people and would reward any touch with a purr.

As laid back as a pot-licking-hounddog, he exhibited only one cat-like "better than THAT" attitude: he was a professional level water snob. No water was fresh enough or tasty enough or chilled enough that he wouldn't demand that the waitstaff needed to freshen this up a touch.

He was my constant sleeping buddy or lap warmer. Three years ago he accepted whole heartedly the appearance of a young stray girl kitty who adored him and now misses him very much, as do I.

"Kitty hobo sign," heh. That's the best way to get a kitty.

I once saw a funny captioned image about a cat refusing water because it wasn't sufficiently fresh, but can't find it for you now.

So sorry for your loss. It does hurt. You'll always remember him and wow, was he lucky to get you for his home.
