Yes, this is what many of us hope to see a LOT more of when The Real Stephen takes over The Late Show on CBS. The latest I heard is he's ending "The Repor(t)" in December, but Letterman isn't leaving until after the May Ratings Sweeps, and there will be time needed to remodel the Ed Sullivan Theater, so he'll be mostly-off-the-air for something like 8 months... which may be enough time to do some significant 'viral' promotion to ensure that the audience doesn't end up disappointed with him dropping his 'Colber(t) Character'. I've seen enough of his 'dropped character' moments to believe he could pull it off, but it's gonna be risky...
