As the last person of the modern era to maintain a refusal to integrate the word "shit" into his vocabulary, I am (ever so slightly) vindicated by the faux-pas in this CNN clip.
Exclamations of exasperation are hardly ever the pinnacle of propriety.
The dutch 'godverdomme' wouldn't be appreciated by devout christians. Even though they should be able to understand that it has no religious meaning for most (secularised) people.
And 'kut' wouldn't be appreciated by gender politics sensitive people that think that the meaning of that exclamation is referential instead of emotive.
I think those are my go to exclamations. But I'm not quite sure since at those moments I'm not at my most self observant.
Interesting. I don't quite mean "shit" as an exclamation though, I mean it as a 'generic collective noun' or whatever the appropriate grammatical term might be, such as it's used in this clip: "they'll need overflight rights, they'll need airspace, that type of shit" (then correcting herself) "--stuff".
It's very common now and I intend to hold out for as long as I can. I got stuff to do! I got things to do! I don't need to have "shit" to do!
(This is in contrast with my liberal use of the word "fuck" though)
