You know how you put something off and it becomes scary and awful, and takes on a life of its own? Well, I just resolved something, [More:]and, of course, it wasn't awful, and I'm just a big silly. However, unpleasant task is done, and I feel better. So there's that. Now I'm going to a meetup group for the 1st time, despite feeling goofy and awkward. Must be wearing big girl panties. very cold, undergarments essential.
good job!
I finished my taxes today which I dread beyond belief every year, so I know what you mean

I have been getting bits and pieces of Spring Cleaning done, which is semi-amazing since the last time I seriously attempted to do Spring Cleaning, in 2010, it was interrupted by the death of my father (at 90), and I ended up having to move all his stuff from L.A. to here in S.L.O., basically doubling the stuff to clean out. But 3 years later and with no more close living relatives, I can feel comfortable about cleaning. I even got to the space under my bed, which was a generally impractical matter because of the corner I moved it into - found lost socks, two lost shoes, store ads dating back to 2008, 9 soda cans and 4 water bottles, and $5.58 of various change. Now, I could've just quit there, but I have continued another step toward Major Spring Clean every day since. ("Is THAT what color the carpet's supposed to be?") Speaking of 'big girl panties', I have a humongous pile of laundry to do, including nearly all the underwear I accumulated since I switched from briefs to boxer-briefs (and went DOWN a size in the process). Yes, for me, they were NOT 'tighty' whities... which reminds me, shouldn't we change the nickname for that style of men's underwear... to "Walter Whities"? Just a suggestion.

Yeah. . .I am almost to the point of filing taxes. This is the first year that we will not have our daughter as a dependent. It has been, as expected, somewhat of a shock.

Congrats.

Starting something is almost always the hardest part of finishing something. The doing of the thing is rarely as hard as the starting of the thing.

This, seconded heartily. Just getting started can be the hardest part. I can work myself into such a tizzy, that once I finally get going, I realize it isn't as bad as I had anticipated. If I could only just work that perspective into my day to day life, I would be a far more productive member of society.

More words of wisdom from Miko. You are so, so right, Miko.

I personally am still delighted that I finally finished cleaning out my home office. I actually know where everything is now.
