Great scott! They performed the worlds first complete skull implant in our local university hospital in Utrecht. [More:]Apparently the thickness of this womans skull kept increasing. And at 5 cm thick there was less and less space for her brain.
The artificial skull was made with a 3D printer.
That is *amazing*. How is that even possible?

Exactly.
To be precise; they replaced the whole cranium.
They waited for 3 months to see how she'd recover. Apparently her brain functions have recovered, she's healthy and nobody can tell that her skull has been replaced....
