Words people hate, like [More:] "moist."

Do people who hate "moist" hate "foist?" Because I love "foist." "Joist?"
I don't like the word damp, but I love the word scamp. I am not averse to the word tramp. Or camp. But damp sucks.

On the old Sonny & Cher variety show, Cher did a weekly sketch about "Historical Vamps" for which she sang the following opening...

"She was a scamp, a camp, and a bit of a tramp, she was a V, A, M, P... vamp."

Notice she never mentions damp.

That is amazing.

Interestingly, she's much better at the drag parts than at the Natalie Wood role.

I'm pro Cher because she's the first example in my time - there may be previous women I'm unaware of - who has a career and is NOT a type - not an ingenue, not a sidekick, not a vamp (although she's a bit of a vamp, but not a pure one). I think she paved the way for Hilary Swank, Chloe Sevigny, Maya Rudolph, etc.

(for what it's worth, the only way "moist" is worse is when it's followed by the awful word "chunks")
