Post-aenethesia mind clutter [More:]

Mrs. Doohickie had minor surgery this afternoon (had some fatty cysts removed from her leg). They didn't put her out all the way, but they gave her enough to give her that goofy, sing-song, almost-child-like, uninhibited chatter.

She's sleeping it off on the sofa, but every once in a while she asks for something, or spews something to someone who exists only in her head.

Fun stuff.
Must have been a day for surgery. Posting from the ninth floor of Allegheny General Hospital after my (apparently successful) back surgery to snip a bit of disk pushing on a nerve. Had no problems with the anesthesia, came right out of it and felt fine. Had to sit in recovery for three hours while a room opened up but since then have been hanging out in a very nice room and eating about 3000 calories from the cafeteria.

My leg feels so much better now, I can walk like a human.

Also, I seem to have a Conjoined lumbosacral nerve root which is a fancy way to say that I've got an extra nerve bundle where there is normally only one. Combine that with my extra lumbar vertebrae and I'm like halfway to qualifying to join Dr. Xavier's School for Mutants.

Thanks Doohickie, sorry if I high jacked your thread and hope that Mrs. D comes to soon.

Way to start the year guys! Successful outcomes: all around good news. Yay!

I hope both Madame Doohickie and Octothorpe are well on the mend today. Octo, my husband was born at Allegheny General! Whenever we drive past, he reminds me of that fact :)

Waiting for discharge right now. Got zero sleep last night because the place is so noisy. Can't imagine staying more than a day here.

Best wishes to Mrs. D and Octothorpe for swift recoveries!

Doohickie - when my grandfather was put out for heart surgery and he woke up back (after it was done) the anaesthesia affected his really weirdly - he was completely convinced people were after him. So any kind of anaesthesia freaks me out a little.

I felt fine right out of anaesthesia except for a massive craving for tacos. Ended up with a turkey sandwich and pudding.

Is this a January thing with the everyone going to the "doctor," having "procedures," waving their test results around?

These growths are just were I store all my excess love.

Hope she's doing OK now, Doohickie. And you octo. This will be a running year, eventually.

Aside from the fast acting anesthetics like propofol (my love) I just can't with anesthesia. Every procedure that I've had general has resulted in much puking. Even with the anti-emetics.

People rave about this propofol. I don't know if i can wait for that colonoscopy.

I turn 50 this year so "hello colonoscopy!" Can't wait.
posted by octothorpe 29 January | 16:50
Yeah, unfortunately despite the fact that I am not 50, I have a few fun procedures under my belt. As it were.

Mrs. Doohickie was doing much better today. She went to work and got through the day. She was cleared to work, but not to drive, so I had to drive her to work, then drive across town to where I work. Then do it all backwards again at the end of the day.
