I just want this on record. →[More:]I find the use of the term "longform" (as in, "longform article") to be like nails on a chalkboard to me. Just say "long," you nitwit!

It grates in the same way that educated, cosmopolitan urbanites referring to their friends as "my tribe" does.

I have no tribe. I was kicked off the reservation long ago. (NOT longform ago.)

But there are so many annoying additions to the language lately, even the Banished Words List can't keep up. (And I'm the guy who used to do a Mefi Post about it every year... I've given up.)

I only ever see it used in the phrase "longform journalism." Would "long journalism" be just as good? I don't know.

I'm so sick of "because ____" as a construction.
I know some people around here probably use it and I don't mean this to be directed towards anyone, but I am really done with it.
Because it is overused.
Truly, not that hard to stick some extra little words in there. The construction isn't cute.
