24 January 2014

Had a really good job interview yesterday evening. Felt like I knocked it out of the park but we'll see.

What good stuff has been happening to you all?
Wow, that's a great feeling! Crossing everything and wishing a good outcome for you.

My good:
A friend of a friend volunteered to remove scrap metal from my place in exchange for the proceeds from the sale. He is also looking around for someone to buy the lathe and milling machine. All are things I cannot face (emotional baggage) so this gesture is a good move towards getting me unstuck.

After convincing my new cardiologist that what they had been calling heart disease all these years may be an anxiety disorder, we have replaced 60 mg of Imdur (a powerful nitrate) and 50 mg of metoprolol (a beta-blocker with yucky side effects) with 20 mg of prozac, and my angina has vanished. My doc plans to lower the dosage of two other meds in the future. This doesn't cure the heart damage already done, but it has improved my overall quality of life.

I bought another typewriter. That makes 9.

We have a new coffee machine at the office and are all rather entranced with its touch screen, display of beautiful coffee images, and general 21st century demeanor.

I had a job interview on Monday. They were supposed to let me know by the end of the week, but it's after 5 on Friday and I haven't heard anything. I'm deeply unhappy in my job now but trying to be mindful that I'm lucky to be employed. I haven't quite convinced myself, but it's bitterly cold in northeast Ohio and I do like being warm so even though I loathe the job, I do like to eat and live in a house.

Good luck, octo. I hope we both get great news on the job front soon.

I'm trying not to overthink this since I had myself totally convinced that I was going to get the last job that I interviewed for.

I liked the people that interviewed me and the offices are beautiful. The office was apparently designed by the same architect who did Google's offices which are in the same building. It would be mostly Ruby programming in Linux which would be fun.

Update: While I was writing this comment, they called me to tell me that they're putting together an offer and will send it to me on Monday. Woot! I wish that I could drink to celebrate. (Not drinking for a few weeks before and after my back surgery).

Thanks all. I'm waiting until I've got the offer and I accept it before I really celebrate.

Fantastic news, octo. And Ardiril, how great is that, no more angina!

As for me, I have a couple of days off work, so I'm hoping to catch up with a few things over the weekend and into next week. A break from the office is a wonderful thing ...

I am so happy to hear all the good news. Senyar, I saw what you were hoping to catch up on over the weekend, and I beside myself jealous. Kudos to bunnies near and far!
Octo, keep us updated on the job front.

Great news Octo and others! Congrats!

Mine is that I went to a conference last week that I was nervous for and it ended up going well and I made 2 new actual friends! I haven't made a new real friend in a while (plenty of friendly acquaintances but no one I especially clicked with). It was so unexpected and nice.
