Friday Night Question, Very Early Edition If you had three wishes from a non-tricky genie, what would you wish for?
*ponders what the definition of non-tricky genie is*

1. Wisdom - so that I could know what the right thing to do in any situation was, and see how it would affect others.

2. Once I had the wisdom, I would then ask for whatever would be most helpful for certain family members.

3. Probably winning the lottery for a bunch of cash. :P but, possibly a longer, healthier lifespan for the bunny, because he's getting old, and I fear losing him.

1. The heart I had when I was 35 (physically)

2. The brain I had when I was 35

3. The rest-of-the-body I never had...

*ignores the definition of non-tricky*

1. The body I had when I was 25.
2. A winning lottery ticket for a pot of 20 million.
3. Elimination of prejudice from the entire human race forever.

Super tough. I like chewie's third one, because I think that would follow on to a lot of other good stuff - can I steal it?

1. Elimination of prejudice from the entire human race forever.
2. when it's time to die, to die quickly and peacefully, and not linger, especially with dementia or in pain
3. a good singing voice. I've always wanted to be able to sing.

!
Very simply:

1. I'd wish that all beings, including planet Earth, were treated with dignity and respect ensuring peaceful, happy coexistence.

2. I'd wish that we wouldn't live in constant worry about not having enough to meet basic needs for the remainder of our existence.

3. I'd wish that we all would live every day secure in the knowledge that someone loves us fully and wholeheartedly.

1. The ability to be fluent in any language I happen to come across.

2. Unlimited money = whenever I need/want something, all I have to do is put my hand in my pocket or write a check/use debit card and tada!! It's covered.

3. Long/healthy/happy lives for my children and all their descendants.

The whole non-tricky genie thing doesn't even matter; any "deal" needs specific language. "I want everybody to be happy forever" may mean they are all lobotomized or slaves on a steady drug diet or living in a basement in an isolated hollow where you think outside is nuclear holocaust.

Off the top of my head:
1. Complete control over teleporation.

2. The ability to change form at will.

3. The ability to control energy. I just threw this in there so I could shoot force beams out of my solar plexus when I feel kind of stressed out, but I think I could really make due with any one of these.

My logic is that I have control over my actions, not anyone else, which is why most wish scenarios stipulate that it is you that are altered instead of the fabric of the universe.
It's all very world peace = alien invasion, Lathe of Heaven kind of stuff. Except for your very short sighted, immediate gratification types, most people don't really know what they want because most people don't really think about it. There are a lot of people who really want this rat/maze, junkie/fix, game/reward life, except they think they shouldn't.

If you take away the shadows, you cannot tell what is the light. One person's perfection is another's featureless landscape. One ill simply draws attention from another.

I'm going to leave this monkey paw right over here.

1. Vast sums of money. In return, I promise to devote my life (while also setting aside time to pursue my own desires) to easing suffering in others.
2. The ability to communicate with people without awkwardness, misunderstandings and the stupidity that seems to invade my brain whenever I interact with humans.
3. Someone to love me unreservedly and accept me for what and who I am (including my many flaws). To be clear, a person of the female species that I'm not related to, please. Someone to stand by my side for #1 and everything else.

In general--

1. World peace.
2. No poverty.
3. Slower aging, with good health.

Personally--

All of the above, and

1. A billion dollars, which takes care of the Maui beach house (for Jon, myself, and my mom) and time to write.
2. 100 extra IQ points.
3. Children.

1. World peace
2. Eliminate poverty
as I agree with Pips

and for me
3. earn a $150K post-tax salary each year until I die of old age for doing nothing but being my wonderful and healthy self :)

1. Physical invincibility with perfect regenerative capacity.
2. An infinite army of magma creatures of all sizes, shapes, and destructive capability.
3. Control of hurricanes, tornadoes, and earthquakes.

I will have to work on my demonic laugh.

Good health, long life, and a peaceful passing when the time comes for all my loved ones.
That humans would be somehow unable to behave cruelly to one another.
A healed natural environment.

1. A guaranteed $500,000 per year income; I think that would be enough, in this geographic area, for me to eventually be able to buy a house and to go out to dinner every now and then and such, but not so much that I wouldn't be motivated to continue working to help others.

2. I'm also going to steal "elimination of prejudice from the human race, forever," because that's awesome; I'm also thinking that my guaranteed income would give me enough money to donate to causes that would certainly spring up to even the playing field.

3. An elimination of any pain of any non-human animals due to human causes. I actually don't care if this is because animals magically stop feeling pain, or humans magically stop killing animals, or some combo of the two; I would just like to live in a world where non-human animals weren't suffering due to humans.
