Love it when the person who is dictating what I am transcribing says things like "I spoke to Tsefpsnevwal Smith. That would be S-m-i-t-h."
Happens all the time...
That made me giggle.

That's great. I do that all the time. My last name is a garble of consonants, so sometimes when I introduce myself to someone they ask how my name is spelled and I say "Capital S, a, m."

Too funny. But you have your revenge, right? I visualize your work product -- "I spoke to [incomprehensible] Smith. That would be S-m-i-t-h."

My mom was a medical transcriptionist for a while.

Oh the stories she has of spellings.

(OH, and the SO has a last name that, combined with his accent, is very easy to mishear, so he always spells it out in NATO phonetic alphabet when giving it over the phone, which sometimes just makes it worse ( A AS IN ALPHA C AS IN CHARLIE - what? MY NAME - FOXTROT, INDIA....)
