Hump day three point update! [More:]
1. According to the local weather report, we should be experiencing fall-like weather by the weekend.
2. I had to report a creeper at my local gym (a YMCA, actually). I went back and forth about whether or not I should tell someone, and I am REALLY glad that I did. I didn't have any idea about what a problem this can be for community centers. Better to report it and have it on record, to keep creeper from creeping again.
3. Some very good friends are coming to town this weekend, and I am very excited to see them!
1. Class tonight. I have class twice a week, Tues & Wed. I enjoy it, though I miss my little buddy's bedtime. Tonight is this class's first meeting (last week was a holiday). Two classes in (on the other class), I'm already starting to figure out which classmates I might want to do group work with and which ones I hope not to. We're together for the next 2.5 years!

2. Pleased with the results of the primary yesterday.

3. Pedicure tonight before class.

Good job on reporting the creeper. I always have that sort of indecision about it too, but hope that it all balances out in the end.

1. The week of insanity is almost over. Almost. I think I might get a breather in November. Maybe. (I've been out of the house every day this week in the evening and that tends to make me crankypants.)

2. I have to pull together some serious choreographing and dance applications in the next couple of weeks, which is definitely going to be a challenge. I think I can do it though. (And I did get some motivation last night from getting my AKD custom ordered costume top, which is red/purple sparkly holographic fabric and has a very plunging neckline and bell sleeves.)

3. MUST CHOREOGRAPH ALL THE THINGS. (I have to finish my Big Spender cane solo and Stampede sword duet for the Broadway hafla, then start on October's hafla piece, as well as finish up an old veil routine that I need to find the notes for, plus learning 2 new choreographies for a show in October and reviewing other pieces for a show in November. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH.)

1. WHY IS IT SO HOTTTTTT IN NYC RIGHT NOW?

2. I love plants. I've wanted a real garden for such a long time now but now with my little outdoor balcony I feel like I have one, even if it isn't really true. I love waking up and looking at them out the window and seeing their new leaves. Some are doing better than others; my new Bolivian Jew is amazingly huge and growing so quickly. I trimmed and shaped it and stuck the trimmings in dirt in 2 little pots and they are already so much bushier and it's only been a few weeks.
If anyone wants some, let me know your address and I will send you a few sprigs. Best keep it contained though since I bet it will take over whatever you put it in.

3. I was supposed to go on a work trip to Boston tomorrow to see a colleague at another company, but she just gave birth! I'm excited for her and happy that I don't have to make the trip but I wish I could have seen her and gotten our project done. Oh well. I can't believe she emailed me from the hospital to tell me not to come. So thoughtful and I am sure not how she wanted to spend her post-birth time.

1. Tomorrow I get in the car and drive 11 hours to Virginia.

2. Friday I begin a 3.5-day hike on the Appalachian Trail.

3. I have done very little hiking. By this time Friday I will probably be wishing I had never been born.

wow, JanetLand - good luck!

1. Finally getting over the cold I've had since last week. I am almost better. (yay)

2. The bunny went to the vet Monday AM with a stomach thing (gut stasis, we think), and he *finally* got to come home at lunch today - he's running around and feeling much better. It seemed like forever, even though it was just two days.

3. More costume planning coming up - get to work on my niece's halloween costume, and steampunk outfits for a november event.

1. I'm gearing up for the visit of danf (& Vicky) next week by having a good old clear-out. Today was kitchen cabinets - all those old packets, tins and jars that were past their use-by date are now history.

2. Work has been drudgery this week. It's been pretty relentless, a constant stream of human misery passing across my desk. I'll be glad of a couple of days break next week.

3. Since I finished my 30-day juice reboot 3 weeks ago I've been following (for the most part) the Furhman Eat to Live plan. It's going pretty well. I'm eating a lot of food, but still losing weight. The only thing I refuse to give up is coffee, but I'm finding I only need two cups a day, rather than the six or so I used to drink.

1. It is stupid hot in Seattle today.

2. I have access to a somewhat more sane public transit system now, and so I found a cardiologist I plan to stay with (at least until he retires). He is a former head of cardiology at a prestigious med school, and he specializes in the type of advanced heart disease that I have. He has already cleared up two judgment errors that past cardiologists made. He also is somewhat of an expert on the type of brain damage I received that is associated with the heart-lung machine used during my first bypass in '98. (This was a known risk at the time.)

Because of the new regimen of diuretics, I now keep an emergency bag of potato chips and a 2-liter of root beer in case of salt/potassium depletion due to dehydration.

3. My weight plateaued at 240 during the month we moved. I started back with my diet ten days ago, and I am down to 235 now with probably 7 to 12 pounds of excess water. I think 220 by Jan 1 is an attainable goal.

1) V-School is going fairly well. I'm not exactly destroying it, but I'm staying afloat, which is just fine by me. It's keeping me incredibly busy though. I miss having a life outside of the classroom and study.

2) I have gotten to see some cool stuff already though. Today a group of us went out the feedlot/research facility that the school has and saw how they operate. They had a few dozen head of Angus out there that they're finishing up and getting ready to ship off later this week, but we didn't get to actually do anything with them. Still, for a city guy, it was pretty cool to see. Tomorrow night I'm going to a lecture on parasites that target Arctic Wolverines, so that should be awesome (also...pizza!)

3) While walking the dog after class today, a car I didn't recognize pulled up next to me and it was one of my classmates. Apparently he lives two blocks away from me. That makes (at least) 4 of us in our class alone in a little two block area. Such is small town life, I guess.

Phys quiz tomorrow. Back to the books. Blah.

1. Yesterday, Eugene was hotter than it was in Death Valley. Not today, but my point rests.

2. Assiduously getting ready for Europe and looking forward to seeing Senyar. Then ferrying over to the Continent and after a stay with Vicki's old friend in Brittany, ending up in Paris. A week from today, we'll be in SF waiting for our overnight flight to London!

3. As well as travel preparations, doing a lot of music. If you are inclined to go over to MeFi music, you can hear one of my things, and you could even fave it if you like it enough :-)

Good luck Janetland!

1. I took off tomorrow & Friday for my birthday. Sooo looking forward to it.

2. I think I'll drive up to Ikea Friday. I need a high chair for my mom's house and theirs is the cheapest recommended one I've see.

3. My dad sent me a mooing birthday card (thank you random youtuber). I love it.

1. It is so September now. There is something going on all the time at work. And I'm dashing about getting set for marriage/small reception of a couple of dear friends, plus getting set for upcoming business trip to Hawaii. Where did the mellow summer rhythm go?

2. As the pace picks up, we are indeed getting a blast of summer heat in Seattle. Seems ill timed though I am a lizard at heart and love sunny weather here.

3. I'm totally irked with the Bear at present.

Senyar, so psyched to see you are doing ETL diet! Let's do mutual support. I've seen great results with it.

1. Cleaned out drawers and desk surface at work. Hoping to do the same at home before winter sets in.

2. Trying to make progress on some personal issues. Seems like a slog but looking back to where I started from, I've made a lot of progress and that feels good.

3. I saw a Dr. Fuhrman show on PBS a few months ago and was interested in trying his eating plan, but had forgotten about it until just now. Senyar and bearwife, have you read the books or are you only using the website?

1. Cleaning the house because a sweet friend is bringing over a larger bird cage for the love bird she gave me two weeks ago. (Love bird story: nearly two years ago her daughter found it at school; daughter's boyfriend's mom loved it and took it in. Fast forward to two months ago - daughter breaks up with boyfriend, then goes off to college. Three weeks ago - boyfriend's father drops love bird off at my friend's house, just showed up and dumped it off. Friend can't keep bird - her dog is afraid of it - and didn't want daughter to know it was dumped back at their house. So I offered to take it and see if I can't find a home for it. We like the bird; no one else seems interested; we're keeping it; they have a bigger cage that's been empty for years and they want gone. Win win all the way around.

2. Feeling emotional for the last two days. Besides the obvious reason of today, other personal "anniversaries" are this week/month. September can be a melancholy month for me.

3. Need to find someone who can solder an inside part on my computer - the new one isn't working; I'm using the old one for the time being. I have thousands of pictures trapped on both!

Returned from trip with my Mom Tuesday evening. Ended up calling paramedics last night. Kept watch on her last night then... Spent all day today with her at doc's then ER. Released from ER at 7:30 tonight and she refused to pick up medication on way to her house. I want her better and she's being *%#$+*.

I'm tired and frustrated.

1. Daughter started school this week. She really likes her teacher and has already informed me that she will not need walking up the steps in the morning because she is a big girl now.

2. A week to go before my appointment to see if I get the clear to run after breaking my fibula in July. I'm dubious though - it's been hurting a bit lately :( this lack of running is *not* good for my mental health.

3. Our home is an explosion of legos and my little ponies. And yes, the kid now has some "girl" legos. A scientist and a soccer player.

1. The last two days have been crazy making with my old department *still* coming to me for stuff they should know. They've cooked up a cockamamie plan that is ludicrous to address a problem that was 1) easily addressable and 2) easy to prevent in the future. They're going to spend thousands of dollars to solve a problem they don't have any more. Bananas.

2. Kind of in a rut with my actual job, because more and more of it is literally watching things go by. Very little diagnostics any more. The fun stuff I was working on with a colleague has slowed down, mainly because once I set up the system, it was self sustaining.

3. So, because of that, and because hubby wants to get out of Texas, we're casually looking for work in the Bay area. We'll see how that works out.

Good luck Janetland!
*hugs* mightshould

initapplette, I've used the 2010 ebook, myself. I tried a subscription to the site and it was a little too cult-like for me. Dr. F. is very careful to put "in my personal opinion" in front of some of his more tenuous claims, but it rubs me the wrong way.

I'm on MyFitnessPal and I like the ETL group there. You're not "supposed" to worry about calories when doing the full six-week challenge, but I went straight to the 90% plan and kept counting, which has been working for me.

Oh, redvixen - could you get the hard drive out and get a USB adapter to connect it to the new computer?

Also, *hugs*.
