I wonder what kind of paint they used. Ink, I'm guessing.

Easily done. Stagger the sheets, and then run them through a rotary press.

I'm with you, ethylene -- this is definitely the thing that porn and especially erotica would embrace. Might even be an entrepreneurial/etsy opportunity here for some enterprising artist/craftsperson.
