Awesome. Transferal of hate. Love it.

So...what do you all think?

Will they end up together?

Is this real or interactive fiction?'

If not, what else could explain their perfect blogging performance and incredible graphic design?

Personally, I think if you can make it through a project this intense and this public while still talking to each other, yeah, you oughta just get married because you're not likely to find much that works better.
posted by Miko 15 August | 22:55
Married? No, that's seems like a bad idea. Jessie is fairly new at being a partner in a successful design firm. I think she should focus on that and not the care and feeding of a man-child. I've known high-powered women who marry guys who support their careers, but Tim doesn't seem like the type.
posted by Area Man 16 August | 06:06
Tim seems exhausting to be around. He must be charming, because on paper he is a real dog. I hope it ends after the experiment. Jessie needs someone less about drama.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 16 August | 07:27
Now that they are both represented by CAA and are fielding offers from film and TV producers, who do we think should play each of them? Zooey Deschanel for Jessie?
posted by Area Man 16 August | 08:36
For some reason I'm picturing Reed Diamond as Tim, but he might be a little old nowadays.
posted by muddgirl 16 August | 15:12
He's got the right look
posted by Area Man 16 August | 18:05
It is amazing how much I understand and can relate to the Jessie answers and how totally foreign and repulsive the Tim answers are. Does he really need to see every single thing in his life through the lens of someone else's categorization system?
The girls you marry and the girls you don't.
The archetypes of personality.
Jessie had the myers briggs stuff which is similar, but it seems like every post has Tim subscribing to some method of breaking down the world into clear categories for himself.
posted by rmless2 16 August | 18:52
He's been OBSESSED with the "pressure" of everything. Dude can't even say goodbye because he "needs" to just leave when he wants? Booooooooooooooo.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 16 August | 19:46
Will they end up together?

Gracious, I hope not. I mildly disliked both of them at first, but have really come to think Tim is a tiresome little shit. I don't even like Jessie all that much, but for goodness' sakes, she deserves better than that awful boy.
posted by Greg Nog 18 August | 10:47
Whoa, blockquote looks like that? Huh. What are the quoting conventions here? Italics like on mefi? blockquote? Something ENTIRELY DIFFERENT?
posted by Greg Nog 18 August | 10:48
We do whatever we want here! We are crazy!
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 18 August | 10:54
Some sort of wedding proposal at Disney World sounds like it's right up Tim's alley.
posted by muddgirl 18 August | 19:24
OMG ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I think you're right!!!!!
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 18 August | 19:51
I hope these two marry, and continue to document their every single day at excruciating length.

Honestly, I would have more pity for these people, but also like them a lot less, if they weren't graphic designers. Designers are just absurd and silly like this. I forgive them both their pretentious project and their occasionally idiotic quips for that, but I also demand MORE
posted by Rory Marinich 19 August | 10:59
No new post yet today, huh?

Boooooooooooooooooo
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 19 August | 14:43
Haha, perhaps part of their Hollywood contract is that they can't release the last four days so that people will go see the movie to find out how it ends.
posted by rensar 19 August | 15:18
Per her Twitter, no post today and look for an "update" on the website tomorrow. If they cut off the end of the project because they sold out, I will never forgive them.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 19 August | 18:12
that would be a seriously dick move. Makes me think it's likely.
posted by gaspode 19 August | 18:40
Ha!
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 19 August | 19:13
Yeah, it actually does seem likely.

@jessicawalsh: "Sorry all, there is no #40daysofdating post today. Look for an update on the website tomorrow morning! Thanks!" 12:48 PM - 19 Aug 13

The fact that she differentiates between "post" and "update" seems pretty telling. My money is on a movie/television deal.
posted by rensar 19 August | 22:03
So will they tell us we have to wait for the movie to get the end of the story? Won't that just anger the people who should be most likely to see the movie? (I'm saying movie because a book co-written by Tim is too terrible to contemplate.)
posted by Area Man 20 August | 07:25
I was bored without any posts over the past few days, so I snooped in Jessie's and Tim's twitter feeds:

"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."--Dr. Seuss (Jessica's twitter 4/29/13)

@ChelseaLupkin haha not quite yet... (Tim's tweet, in response to Chelsea's "Are you free yet?" 4/25/13)

Those put me on the side of them ending as friends. Then, their new script deal forces them to revise the 40 Days and pretend to still be together until the movie releases.

"We’re a little tied up at the moment. New posts coming September 3rd."
posted by muddgirl 20 August | 12:12
After gladly's post, I went skimming thru their twitter posts back to about the beginning of March. I noticed that they both occasionally tweet inspirational quotes. I also noticed that almost all of Tim's quotes were from Walt Disney, Winnie the Pooh or Peter Pan, while Jessica was quoting from: Alain de Botton, Anais Nin, Einstein, Shaw, Aristotle, Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain, Eleanor Roosevelt, Charles Eames, CoCo Chanel, Walt Whitman, Stephen Hawking, Dali and tons of others.

I think she is way too smart for this self-absorbed man-child. Yeah, I'm judgey like that.

@timothyogoodman She's totally pregnant, right? That's what I'm gonna tell the internet til you guys give us a new post ;)

ella gray ‏@ellalg 7h
@ryan2499 Agreed. Total shady move. Happy for their success but this is an uber d-bag move #40DaysofDating cc @jessicawalsh @timothyogoodman

I felt the need to jump in:

Kate the Great ‏@misspinkkate 30s
Are we really surprised @jessicawalsh & @timothyogoodman are douchebags? Have we not been reading for 36 days? #40daysofdating

Whoa, Jill Biden got in on the Twitter bashing:

So you had time to shoot a video set to weird french music but you couldn't post Day 37? Not cool, #40DaysofDating, not cool at all.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 20 August | 20:16
Aww DAMMIT that's a parody account. Alright. Still. I enjoy it.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 20 August | 20:17
Why do you suppose they can't put the posts up? I mean, they did this as it happened, right? So the posts are there, somewhere, already written. Is it a mere lack of time to format?
posted by Stewriffic 21 August | 06:46
My tweet was just favorited by:

@40daysdogdates- A dog person dates a cat person for 40 days in LA. Will it be cat scratch fever or puppy love, or will they just fight like cats and dogs? #40daysofdogdating
fortydaysofdogdating.wordpress.com

The knockoffs have begun!
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 21 August | 07:18
Is it a mere lack of time to format? No way. No way. It's about buzz or some contract or something.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 21 August | 08:42
Ah, makes sense. I am insufficiently savvy/overly naive about these sorts of things.

If they are "professional" Graphic Designers formatting a webpage that is on a wordpress platform can and should be done when they are asleep. The ones worth their salt can redesign, tweak, and otherwise manipulate entire ads, ad campaigns, and whatever media in very short notice. i.e. like their real job! To do this is because they are getting pageviews, cashing in on the exposure, and possibly discovered how to convert the "16 and Pregnant" and "The Bachelor" shows into blog form. I agree with ThePinkSuperhero-they've must have sold out.

There is another part that has me curious tho, there is the old trope that any publicity is good publicity. Even the bad. Even if we find out that these are caricatures of Jessie and Tim (some of it seems really...by-the-book-psychosis) This is going to affect their professional image. This is going to affect who wants them to work on their advertising or art. It might not affect their job prospects. For every client that likes this, there will be one that doesn't. Again, if we were take their writing as facevalue, Tim will suffer the most character assassination and Jessie will be a close 2nd.

My girlfriend and I could register 4000daysofdating and only be about six months off.

(This is bullshit. I PAID for this!)
