This is the thread where we talk about Project Runway. Spoilers inside.[More:]

After last season's dullness, it looks as if they've gone for drama again, with some completely weird contestants. Sandro, the Russian, is as opinionated as Dimitri from Season 10, but with none of the charm or humour. And his model had her labia hanging out!

The two rivals from Milwaukee looked like twins, facially. I'm so looking forward to the drama the sustainable fashion idiot will bring, although his dress was fugly and I'm glad his model just walked. You could see from her face she was furious with him.

I loved the dress that won, and the orange ruched dress that the straw-haired woman made (and if she's 45, then I'm a Dutchman, her crepy neck says she's 10 years older). I also liked Kate's little yellow tea dress, I thought it was cute.

I wish Angela had made a little pair of black capri pants to go with that swing coat. It looked so unfinished.

It's good that the judges get to have a closer look at the garments during the judging. In past seasons people have won a challenge with a dress that's glued or stapled together at the last minute, which seems unfair when someone else has sewn something properly.

It's too early to say who's a front runner. Like all these contestant shows (Top Chef, The Apprentice, etc), the first few episodes are a little frantic. But I'm sure, from the trailers, there'll be plenty of drama to come.

Oh, and my mother was married in 1946 in a dress made from leftover WW2 parachute fabric. It was actual silk in those days, and because of clothing rationing, there was no other fabric available.
I was amused someone made parachute pants, and sustainability guy knows he's on a tv show which means everyone will be using electricity to see it as he releases fumes in the air? I like how another contestant also appreciated the depth/completeness of his concept, but he's getting the whackadoodle cut. I'd say a lot of his issues are because he's young, but isn't he like 28?

Good on Heidi and Tim for enforcing the rules. I wonder why Ms. Milwaukee seems so brittle. And having the judges examine the clothes up close makes it a totally different ballgame, because you know so many past things were sewn on or falling apart and they drastically change their minds with just time looking on the runway.

The Tim Gunn save is better than the random substitution/return and I like them controlling their own money because I've long wondered if one could use things left over from another challenge. This doesn't mean they do get to use spare fabric or stuff from other challenges, but at least coming in under budget doesn't mean you lose money.

I haven't seen the preshow picking but I did see something noting Sandro was a cancer survivor. Bet they pump that in there somewhere. Besides the crazy fit on the bottom of that swimsuit, it seemed really interesting with all the details, but it's hard to ignore the gaping stretch between cool fasteners and forcing your model to try to use her hand to cover her exposed crotch.

So far I'm hoping the two best dresses end up at the end and Kate is going down.

I didn't know there was a new season! Not sure how I stumbled on the first episode last night, but I'm glad I did. There will definitely be no lack of drama. I'm glad to see Zac Posen is picking up the snark burden in Michael Kors absence.

This is the stage where I barely keep up with who anybody is. The English dude's family is very cute, so I like him. I want to smack the sustainable fashion guy upside the head, mainly for the whole model walk thing.

My daughter is very happy because she loved Kate last year.

Yes, my 4 year old daughter asks to watch Project runway. In fact, she brought it up out of the blue on Thursday morning. No idea what made her think of it (maybe she saw an ad on the subway or something?)

I really like the Betsey Johnson clone. The one who made the orange ruched gown. And Bradon, the one who won the challenge. I was reading their profile interviews on the PR site and his self-deprecating humor really charmed me.

I see all of the drama coming from the young brunette who thinks she's really hardcore but isn't, at all. And the sustainability guy who uses an electric sewing machine and iron but refuses to be part of using a blow dryer. I was glad the model didn't indulge his silly idea. If his clothes have to be part of a performance piece to be understood, they aren't well designed enough to stand alone (obvs) and he should of course already know that.

The people I dislike the most right now are Sandro, and the tall ex-model blonde. She always looks angry and unpleasant. I'll probably also end up disliking the guy with the black tie neck tattoo.

I wish they would return to simply designing and talking about clothes and stop focusing on personalities.

I was glad the model didn't indulge his silly idea = somebody on TWOP said if she really wanted to screw him over with the judges, she SHOULD have done the choreography and then told the judges he made her, with a straight face and a sweet smile.

And I wonder why the judges didn't mention the lady parts hanging out from that one guy's model? Maybe they figured she suffered enough?

Yeah, but then if he gets eliminated, she's likely to get eliminated, too. By not going along with his idea, now he's mad at her and maybe won't pick her next time. (Assuming they're doing the pick-a-new-model every time thing again. I haven't seen the show in a few seasons, so if that's no longer the case, then ignore me!)

Hah. I have to start reading TWOP. I always mean to and then forget. Today's the day!

I wondered about the swimsuit bottom too. I was thinking they edited all of the comments and reactions out but I couldn't figure out why. The model didn't look one bit (or two bits....lady bits) concerned that she was hanging out of it though, right??

Oh yes she did, that's why she kept holding that weird string thing in front of herself. As far as I could tell she looked very uncomfortable. Maybe they cut all discussion of it in hopes the viewers wouldn't notice, and then had to add the black bar afterwards? I wish Tim Gunn had a commentary blog about the episodes so we could hear what happened.
