Do you have any once-a-year clothing items? At the fireworks tonight, I was checking out people's dedicated 4th of July duds. Lots of people wear red white and blue, but some people clearly have a piece of clothing they wait all year to bust out. For instance, I keep this one long sleeve navy Tshirt with an outline of the lower 48 states on it to wear to fireworks, and I wear it every year pretty faithfully, and never otherwise. And we saw a guy tonight with American flag jeans, and plenty of flag t-shirts.[More:]THen I thought about how I also have this 50s guyabera with burros printed on it that I only wear during our family's beach week. Do you have any pieces of clothing that are dedicated to one event and one event only?
I have a bright orange suit jacket that I only wear on Kings Day. (That's our national holiday. And orange is our national colour)

(My head is against the ceiling since my friends house is in the medieval centre and the 4 meter high ground floor has been split.)

I have a Christmas top that I bought at Walmart in Ohio for, I think, $7. It's printed velvet, with lots of rich colours and garishness. I only ever wear it on Christmas Day.

Hmmm, I have in the past, but I think I finally tossed all my "once-a-year" shirts because I don't really like wearing the same thing every year. I do have a once-a-year accessory or two that I look forward to busting out- like my pumpkin sunglasses.

My mother used to dress in head-to-toe gold lame' during our neighborhood's July 4th celebration.

No, I don't know why she did, either.

Also, my high school history teacher used to break out a very special pair of screamingly plaid pants (predominantly red) on the day before winter break.

I don't. At most I might wear an appropriate colour for a given holiday, and I have a Christmas bracelet. I think it's fun when other people do have special occasion outfits, but I've never really been able to get into theme outfit or costume making/buying. Which is a shame when I have the skills to make just about any kind of costume, but I don't like that I'll only be able to wear the costume a few times.

I might like owning a Canada Day t-shirt, though, and it's not a big investment and won't take up a lot of room, so I'm going to look out for a cute one.

I have a Christmas shirt that I wear to the work Christmas party. Since I don't go to anybody else's parties, that's pretty much the only time I wear it.

My sparkly Santa hat is worn from Black Friday to New Years, because even if I don't feel The Spirit™ sometimes, I do like the smiles it gets.

I'll have my kids make up their own shirts for special occasions, too.

I have all kinds of red white and blue stuff for any patriotic holiday: Flag Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc. I even commissioned a set of four tyedyed shirts for the whole family. I should do that again since they've been literally worn to bits. Any recommendations?

Oh, yes. My "Established 1776" with sequined flag July 4 shirt, my skeleton dangle earrings for Halloween, my Xmas wreath pin and dangly red green and gold earrings, my red glittery turtleneck and silly Santa hats for various Xmas events, my gorgeous green dress for St. Patrick's day . . . To name a few of the wearable items I stash the rest of the year.
