I think I heard a fresh Air interview about this recently. I'm definitely catching it at some point.
Possibly the only mentor I ever had wanted to grow up to be Aretha Franklin's back up singer. As an unusually short, stocky Slav who I never did hear sing, I'm guessing he made a better visual artist. Insane range of musical interests, though.

I really want to see it. I know a few backup singers and they're phenomenally talented and wonderful people who love music more than anyone you can imagine, and are SO flexible and generous.
