I'm doing okay. My car was collected for repair today and they left me a nice little Corsa in its place. It's a couple of years since I drove a manual transmission but I got to Morrisons and back with no problem. So now I have a fridge full of lovely food, and the new episode of Top Model to watch on my DVR.

Am I alone in thinking Dwight Shrute is hot?

I leave in a few minutes to go back up to Pittsburgh for (hopefully) the last time this year. Tomorrow is dear Susan's memorial service. Back through the emotional wringer, but at least it will be alongside some very dear people.

Personal note to Senyar: I don't know when or where, but you recommended Khiel's alcohol free cucumber toner, which I have since acquired, and LOVE! Thanks for the rec!

Okay, I suppose. I was having a serious bout of The Sad last night while watching season 5 of FNL and sewing the trim on my veil (which looks fabulous) but I had an interesting dream regarding a potential initiation which was ...different and definitely has given me some things to think about.

But today is a home day, so I'm going to clean and sew and cut down music and all that which is desperately needed.

Speaking of thanking Senyar for her awesome recommendations, I took delivery of my Aeropress coffee maker yesterday, and it's so great! This morning's espresso was an absolute marvel. And it's so easy to clean. I will have to exercise some major self-control to keep from drinking half a dozen doubles every day, it's so simple and tasty. I'm grinning ear-to-ear.

Thank you, Senyar. You improved my life!

Just got back from my first bicycle ride with Mrs. Doohickie in, like, FOREVER. She had problems with her hands, and I broke my arm, but now we're both on the mend. So life is good.

Well, my state government might shut down, which means I and thousands of others won't get paid for however long it lasts, but otherwise I'm doing reasonably well and trying to decide what to cook this weekend.

Eh. Kiddo is home from school. Took her to school, she seemed fine. Then she apparently threw up 3 times in half an hour. Went to pick her up. Forgot ID. Went home. Went back to pick her up. Teachers accused me of sending her to school when I knew she was sick. Sigh.

Now she's watching television and eating apple sauce. I hope she'll doze off and I can get some work done.

Whatever I ate is making weird noises in my gut, even the dog is looking at me, wondering what the heck. It's Friday, I have several fun options for the evening, it's sunny, and I think life might be okay.

I have done a marvelous job procrastinating so far and looking for wedding updos on pinterest, but I am worried that I am soon reaching the end of the internet and will have to do work and schedule meetings that I've been avoiding.
Did you guys know Terrain is a home and garden store from the same people as Anthropologie? I want everything there now.

Also as a hypothetical, if you were gifted with several pairs of very nice but non-returnable candle sticks as wedding presents that you didn't ask for, where would you donate them? Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Housing Works, rmless2?

Hypothetically speaking, the candlesticks would have been "given."

I'm sorry, I apparently had too much coffee and became a total dick. I hope you weren't insulted but I understand if you were. In any case, I regret making that comment.

I am totally cranky today. I am unhappy the Spurs lost last night, and unsurprised but also unhappy the Mariners snatched defeat from the jaws of victory at about the same time. I have a headache I can't shake yet. My suit is too tight in the middle, meaning my deviations from normal healthy diet lately are showing up where they shouldn't. I forgot my reading glasses this AM and the bus driver wouldn't let me off the bus at the park and ride to get back to my car -- he made me wait through a light and stay on board to a bus stop across an extremely busy arterial -- so I filed a complaint about him but I'm still mad. I have a presentation I'm supposed to be working on but I keep stalling. I felt too tired to run long last weekend or at all this week (not helping with waistline I'm sure) and tomorrow is my half marathon.

This is all minor so I'm also cranky at myself for letting the little stuff get to me.

Wiped out from coughing for two weeks straight. Slept 11 hours last night. First night during this miserable cold I was able to sleep without a triple dose of Nyquil to knock me out. Sad thing is, I'm still tired. About to lie down for a nap and the end of the Brady Bunch (Tiger's missing). Never liked it that much as a kid, but it's such a comfort lately.

My nephew and his new bride came this afternoon to give me items they'll not need in their new home. They're moving to Colorado and I expect to see them just one more time before they head across country. I get nice vibes that they're going to be good together. But I'm really going to miss him since he was one of my lifelines.

Saturday and Sunday are work days as usual.

Don't seem to have any work lined up from the good part time job for next week. I fired my a**hole boss since he decided not to pay us for May and I've not found anything else, but the garden is starting to produce and the weather is pretty nice.

I am recovering from a sudden and bad cold. Wednesday, I thought that I might have to go to the doctor, since it came on so quickly and so severely. But now it's just a cold, and a mild one. I credit my neti pot for this.

Wife is away for the weekend on a woman's retreat to the coast. I made some chicken soup (and some (also some caprese, with the first basil from the garden), and listened to an entire Grateful Dead concert (from 1989) while having dinner.

Tomorrow, a memorial service for a beloved co-worker who died of brain cancer, albeit outliving his prognosis for a year.

Probably reading, or maybe streaming a movie tonight.
