What are you up to this weekend? [More:]
Saturday : First weigh-in after a week on the General Motors Diet. 7.2lbs gone in a week, which I'm really happy about. I didn't cheat once. I'm going to ease off it for a week (but will continue to eat mostly vegetables) and then have another week back on General Motors.

All my laundry is done for the week and is drying outside, I went to the supermarket yesterday and so I've got time to relax before I go up to town.

Tonight I'm going to the theatre and then for dinner at The Ivy. (All I can say is that I have some awesome friends.)

Sunday : A run in the morning, at a really nice sailing centre that has a path round the lake. There are usually lots of people out walking their dogs and at this time of year there should be ducklings to see too.

In the afternoon I'm going to tidy and clean my spare bedroom/office. I'm watching 'Hoarding : Buried Alive' right now, for inspiration. My place looks like an operating theatre compared with those hovels, but I always want to clean something when I've watched one of those hoarding shows.
Saturday: I've got a dress rehersal for the Extravadance recital next week today. I hemmed my skirt last night so hopefully that won't be a problem today, but I need to mend my bedlah (bra/belt set) before heading out. (Also, I need to do my hair and makeup.) Hopefully that won't take too long, because I have some other sewing projects that I need to work on and fold laundry and such.

Sunday: I'm off to work, as usual, but I'm leaving after the courier comes to celebrate Vestalia. I have plans to make a bunch of food for the week and will also be doing some caramelized onions in the crock pot.

Friday: We went to the movies and saw Love is All You Need and liked it a lot. While the film making left a bit to be desired, the story, script, and acting were all great. The lead actress is one of those people that are too beautiful to belong in this world.

Saturday: People are due to show up at 7am to shingle our roof. They did the tear-off yesterday, and will finish today except for measuring for new skylights (we have 6 of them) which will come in a week or so. It will be wonderful to have it rain hard and not be stressed out about possible roof leaks. I hate it whenever water is somewhere it is not supposed to be. Then tonight we are going over to campus and see a play about Alan Turing.

Sunday: Going over to the coast for the day. It has been awhile since I have seen the ocean up here.

Senyar, do they rent small sailboats at that lake?

do they rent small sailboats at that lake?

Only on season tickets, danf, no day hire.

Well Vicki will be glad of that. The last time I hired a boat, I terrified the family.

Moving (in progress as we speak)! Settling in! Watching the Tonys!

Errands, a massage, and I hope an outing to new Star Trek movie today. 11 mile run and dog training and bill paying tomorrow.

Open houses all weekend with a little yoga thrown in. I need to find out where I am going to move to so I can decide what to keep or throw out from where I'm living now

I traveled from Portland, Ore to Boston for a week and just got home. I'm trying to settle back into "normal" after getting home late last night. Boston was a lot of fun, I'd like to go back and see it when I have more time for exploration. I was mostly on the Harvard campuses and explored after work when we went to dinner - we tried to go to lots of different areas so I could see more of everything. Stayed downtown in Copley Square so explored all of that a bit at night.

We are going to work in the yard and stay close to home as we have finally gotten to the point where one of our cats, Ichabod, will need to be put to sleep in the next day or two. So he's getting extra skritches, and lots of time in the sun. I'm alternating between knowing this is a good thing (the cancer has dropped him from being a 12-13 pound cat to being 7 pounds, and he isn't eating more a than a piece or two of food for each meal) and being a little weepy as I will miss him.

Outside of all that, it is gorgeous here, and I went for a run in my neighborhood, and will cook out tonight with local vegetables so there are good things this weekend too!

Saturday: Worked today, then made BLTs for dinner for myself, and macaroni and cheese for my youngest son. Oldest son is at a comicon with a group of friends. So I gardened after work, filled my bird feeders, and am now relaxing online.

Sunday: Really not sure what's on the plan. It's supposed to be a very nice day. I'd like to take my dog for a long walk, if she's up for it.

Sil, I am sorry about Ichabod. Pets are such a great gift in our lives, but they just don't live as long as we need them to.

Thanks redvixen, I agree. It's the reason why even though Great Danesare one of my favorite dogs, I'm not sure I could have one with their super short lifespans. I just have to focus on what's right for Ichabod and not selfishly keep him here.

1. I bought a state-of-the-art ereader. (Kobo Aura for those who are in the know) And I've loaded it up. Strange to see titles on there that I previously only knew from physical tomes that are up to a hundred years old. Maybe this will lure me away from the internet. :-)

2. I stumbled upon this childrens video about King Thistle and his daughter Princess Holly. Very perceptive. Maybe you need to have a monarchy to see the fun of it.

3. The Great American Leader (Here's the source)

I'm sick. : ( Got a nasty cold that went from my throat to my chest. Only slept an hour or two last night, off and on. Kept choking. Finally gave up and got up around five. So tired. Sipping on some chamomile tea now.

Tend to get sick when I handle stacks of germy student papers. I need an autoclave. Meh.

Housewarming party Friday evening. My friend moved into a big old beautiful house with her family. I think they will be happy there.

Errands Saturday, especially buying a few more tomato plants and some compost. Would have put them in when I got home, but it got very clouded-over.

Sunday. Lazing around completed. Drink a little more coffe and survey the kingdom. Finish weeding the garden area, put in tomatoes and peas. Prep some of the big pots for cherry tomatoes, basil and other herbs. Mow the lawn if I feel adequately inspired and have energy after gardening. Once I get outside, so many tasks will present themselves that I will likely get distracted, but it's sunny and warm but not hot, so it will be good. 60 Minutes & Tony awards this evening.

Pips, get well soon. Everyone, enjoy your Sunday.

Sil, hugs to you and extra skritches to Ichabod.

I grilled on Friday, which turned out really well. Grilled both steak and a bunch of veggies for tacos.

Yesterday I basically stayed inside the house and tried not to move, as it was 97 degrees outside and I have no air conditioning.

Today it's much cooler. I want to see if I can get a mailing/visit list of possible referral sources going, so that I can visit or send them business cards. I should also water the rosemary and honeysuckle I planted earlier (it's so fun to watch vines start vining!), and possibly repot the dwarf lemon tree, but that's starting to sound like a lot of work. So I may just watch the kittens roll around. They're getting much better at landing on their feet when they roll off furniture, and it's kind of fun to watch those cat skills develop.

Well...was supposed to go to a big music festival to work/perform and be with friends, an annual tradition that I missed last year and was hopeful to rejoin this year. But I got the creeping crud - a terrible sore throat thing that LT brought home. I swear it feels like strep, but it's not. He got over it just as I came down with it, despite hoping I had fought it off. This on top of 2 months slowly recovering from bronchitis. I've been sick a lot this year, completely unlike my usual patterns. I absolutely blame stress, graduate school, and lack of control over my schedule. Not adoring that.

BUT, it's been a good Plan B weekend anyway. Though I was not up for travel and hard physical labor, I'm not sick enough to be totally in bed. So yesterday we went and walked around town in the newly-washed bright clean shiny weather following Friday's tropical storm deluge. We checked out a local arts festival that had booths in the streets and such, then had a cocktail and some tuna tartare on one of the decks. In the evening, I read a book on the porch while the sun shone on my newly planted window boxes. It was a wonderful long afternoon of enjoying the warm weather, sun, and peaceful atmosphere.

Today we went to a farmstand we like and bought some plants, and then went to our community garden with a bunch of other seedlings we started in February, and got the garden in. We have 2 big rows of tomatoes, 3 varieties; tomatillos; ground cherries; cukes; Hidatsa squash; summer squash; Moon and Stars watermelon; some kohlrabi; kale, and Swiss chard. Porkpie/LT also added some dahlias, verbena, and marigolds in the corners. He has been into flower gardening in the last couple years so our veggie gardens now sport flowers. It's a LOT of plants for our fairly small plot. We'll see how it shakes out.

After doing the garden we went down to a park here by the water, got ice cream and waded in the ocean, sat and people watched. Everyone was out and in a joyful mood. It was really a PERFECT, glorious June day. The ice cream was a big treat as I have been following a fairly strict diet lately, avoiding sugar and wheat. Sounds simple but in practice it means that you eat meat, dairy, veggies, and fruit, and that's it. Oh, and dark chocolate. Thank God. It has sugar but a really small amount.

Came home to find our neighbors downstairs were having a party and had not told us about it (they claimed to have knocked on the door earlier today, but that's still just today! I like more notice). However, it's not insane or anything, it's a grownup party, and it's her birthday, so we decided to be chill. I made some scallops with sesame noodles and veggies for dinner.

You really can't complain about a weekend like that, even with a sore throat.

I did repot my dwarf lemon tree today, and got praise from my property manager, who's in the landscaping business, so I'll take that as a super A+.

I made a Chez Panisse recipe for pizza with broccoli raab, roasted onions, and olives for dinner this evening, and that was lovely.

Impressed with your diet and progress, Senyar!

This weekend I was in Boston for Future BIL's grad school graduation, which was mostly fun. Stayed with my mom and talked about wedding stuff.

Got back and had to work a coop shift, but E had to work a make up so he came with me which made it better.
Then we watched a bunch of Arrested Development season 3 to refresh ourselves before watching the new ones.
