RIP Scooby My birdie died earlier this week. My baby. My Scooby. I'm still destroyed by this. I don't think I'll ever get over it.

I miss you so much, my Scooby.

Nothing will ever replace my Phil, but I think I was in shock for a long time. You may feel horrible now, but it is because you can feel, with depth and complexity. A double edged sword.

You know, I've realized lately that you never really stop loving once you've loved someone (pets count as someones for me).

You just keep them in a corner of your heart forever and ever, and you keep adding past and current loves, until your heart is all filled up with love.

Twiggy, that is a lovely thought, I'll have to tell my husband that. We just lost our beautiful young cat Justin 2 weeks ago (godDAMN FIP, again...) and we have been totally wrecked about it. 2 in one year just seems like some kind of, idk, evil joke. Sigh.

RIP Scooby, you were such a cool bird.

My cat died three weeks ago. I'd had her for 15 years. My wife and I loved the crap out of that cat.

I mention that so that I hope you know I'm sincere when I say cheesy things like: I'm sorry, that it sucks losing a pet, and that the years of care and companionship are what's important, not the ending.

Too many pets dying this season. :-(

I'm sorry for everyone's losses. My 17-year-old Zoe cat died the first weekend in May. I just got two kittens a week ago. There certainly is no way (or desire, really) to replace anyone, but it is nice to have new beings around to love. Even when they're driving me crazy.

Thanks everyone. My heart obviously goes out to the folks that also lost loved ones.

I hope that I don't hurt any feelings by saying that ethylene and Twiggy particularly helped me move on when I read what they wrote.
