I wonder if you could modify your mind state by controlling your interior monologue. It's weird cause the things you think are kinda results of your inarticulate internal state, but I also think it can loop back so that tiny tweaks in your controllable approach to things can affect your thoughts about those things.[More:]

just today I was struggling with something and my inner voice just shot off like "of course it's not working. why would it work?" but sometimes these days the same inner thoughts are often more conclusively resilient. And the thing is I can actually modify that language I speak to myself in, to push towards that calm resilience, e.g. "Okay this isn't working. Let's figure out what can be done." Worth trying.

Yes. This is a big part of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which was partly inspired by the practical side of Stoic philosophy.

Yes. I try to manage my internal dialog, or at least reason with it.
