By virtue of being an astronaut, Commander Hadfield automatically holds my respect and awe. I've been following him for weeks - making sandwiches and wringing out wet washcloths - He even held a singalong from the ISS with the Bare Naked Ladies for thousands of Canadian school children.

And now there is this - he takes one of our most well-known and beloved tunes from recent decades and infuses it with fresh emotion and meaning, with accompanying imagery that I found inspiring.
Bowie, our dear earthbound Space Oddity, gazed upward and inward to craft an image of who has over decades become our dear Major Tom. Commander Hadfield remained faithful to Bowie's recorded version, and the accompanying video is just perfect, down to the return capsule striking the earth at the end. Wow.

Any astronaut who brings his beloved six string into space so he can noodle away the hours and put together a show like this is clearly one of the coolest dudes around. This video is so badass it makes me want to cry. Commander Hadfield *is* Major Tom!!!

At least for this week, Cmdr. Hadfield earns a seat at my hypothetical table of people I'd most like to have dinner with.
