mygothlaundry- we are pining to live in a house like in your second picture (is that yours?) In fact, we're going to a home tour shortly in a neighborhood that looks like that.
No, that was the house I lived in and loved for 6 years and then got evicted from when the owners realized that the neighborhood had been gentrified and they could charge double the rent that I had been paying. They stole my security deposit, too, but that was really my fault for being too chicken to take them to court.
On the bright side the house I live in now, four blocks away, is nowhere near as beautiful or charming BUT it has insulation and my heat bills are basically nothing. I about froze to death in that picturesque brick bungalow.
