Check-in post [More:] Random stuff going on...

1. I have a phone interview for that job tomorrow.

2. I broke my arm Sunday night.

3. The choir at the college my son attends performed in Haydn's "The Creation" Sunday night and again tonight. The music director of the Fort Worth Symphony was there tonight, and as a result my son will get a chance to sing in the choir for the Ft. Worth Symphony's performance of "Carmina Burana" in a couple weeks.
My random stuff ...

1. I made my final car payment this week. The Prius is all mine now.

2. I'm hoping to go and see some live music tomorrow night, if I can psych myself up to go to the music club by myself. (Damn you, social anxiety!)

3. I now have Carmina Burana in my head. (Damn you, Doohickie!)

1. Saw the Black Keys and The Flaming Lips last night. Fun but loud. I love how you see people ranging from their teens up through their seventies at concerts these days.
2. Half Marathon this weekend. Feel pretty good about it.
3. I don't even have allergies and pollen season is getting to me. Sniff.

How'd you break your arm Doohickie?

1. Started May by breaking a nice bowl. Glass shards EVERYWHERE. Hard not to think of it as a bad sign even though I don't believe in signs.

2. I am so tired of waiting to hear about the latest internal job I applied for back in March. I don't want to have to think about it anymore.

3. I have Invitation to the Dance running through my head because it was playing on the radio on the way to work.

1. Feeling crappy: part time jobs are getting me down since they're so dead-end and soul-crushing.

2. Exercised some both nights this week. Yay for that. Plan to keep it up; we'll see.

3. Need to get going on calling in to see a different doc since the one I have seen simply dismisses my concerns.

4. Good to see the nice reports from some of the bunnies in recent posts. It's a reminder that things can be positive.

5. The weather has been so changeable here that I never know if I should wear short sleeves, long sleeves or jackets: my car looks like I live out of it since there's all sorts of over-layering options residing in it.

1. Realizing that all of the light came back into my house since I moved some old things out.

2. Having fun and goofing off and recuperating.

3. Sleeping A LOT, but doctor approved.

With you on #1, Twiggy. When my ex moved out, I was astonished at how very bright my bedroom became--my daughter said it "glows." Probably nothing metaphorical going on there, nope.

1. I need to finish up my quarterly deep cleaning of my house before I get too far into May because I have many events this month and if my house isn't clean to start with--I find it much harder to keep it tidy when I get busy.

2. Today is Beltane and I have no plans for this evening (I had a celebration with my sisters on Saturday) and I forgot to bring my offering to the fae to work with me so I could put it in the woods, so I'll have to do that tomorrow when I go out for a slow jog.

3. My lower legs and ankles have been hurting for the past couple of days, which is mildly concerning.

4. I need to remember to try on my bedlah (bra and belt set for bellydance) because I've gained weight (stupid medication) and I need to make sure that they fit appropriately for the show in June.

5. I will accomplish everything I choose to get done. I just need to keep repeating that until things clear up (after the Extravadance recital June 15th). Hopefully.

Today is my son's 20th birthday.

That is just too mind-boggling for me to think of anything else.

Good luck on the interview Doohickie.

1. Today's the first day of my CREATE SOMETHING EVERY DAY month. I decided this morning that the start of a new month was a good excuse to make sure I'm allowing time every day to be creative. Will most likely just be some doodles and cartoons, but probably also some painting as I'm dipping my toes into the world of acrylics. I normally don't go for the "_____ every day" memes, but hopefully if I make it a declaration I'll be foreced to follow thru. Plus that might force me to pay more attention to my neglected flickr page.

2. Just passed the six month mark of being unemployed after being laid off, so rest of the week I'll be focusing on reevaluating and retooling. Like you mightshould, I'm keeping an eye on job reports and hoping that things are going in the right direction.

3. Today is oldies day at the Slack house. I've been listening to so much new music lately and I need to mix it up, so I'm digging into music writer Stephen T Erlewine's excessively rich Spotify playlists devoted to specific years. Think 1968 is today's starting point.

Have a great day/week everyone.

Crabby! Crabby crabby crabby. Baby is not sleeping well (teething, maybe? Almost 10 months and still no visible teeth) and is generally miserable the rest of the time, too. He was crying in the bathtub last night, which is very unlike him, he usually loves the bath. Poor buddy. Poor me! Poor meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Still no word on moving onto Stynxno's campus this summer. Apparently they're going to tell us by the end of the week. We have got to get serious soon about cleaning out all the crapola in our apartment. Too much stuff! I was able to clean out some unused kitchen stuff earlier this week; unfortunately, it's just sitting in a mountain on what used to be our table. Now it's pretending to be a storage unit.

1. Thinking about money and what our money plans should be when we get married. My friend has a financial adviser and I asked her to set me up.

2. My face has been a mess recently and I need to stop picking but it is so much fun!

3. Just painted nails and toenails "Guava glam" color which is like a light coral. Not sure it goes with my skin tone very well.

1. Got the overcrowded office to myself this week. I've been having fun with brush pens and canned air. Also getting work done, which is no surprise.

2. I keep wanting to start this year's garden, but we're expecting freezing temps and possible snow this week, so THAT's not happening for another few weeks.

3. The Whelk and I are trying to come up with an Internet Driving School. This has potential.

1) Sort of impulsively ordered a MacBook last night. I need something that I can be reasonably sure will last me the next four years. There goes most of my tax refund.

2) Sent an inquiry e-mail to a local glassblowing center inquiring about their six-session inroductory course. Not sure if it'll fit into my schedule or not, but it'd be sweet if it worked out.
3) Vacation in 8 days, and I am beyond ready.

I impulsively ordered a MacBook a couple of months ago, ufez. I love it very, very much. Congrats!

Oh, and updates:

1. Finally caught up at work from return from vacation.

2. Very irked with a person who works on our staff. I finally did today what I never do and made a complaint to person's supervisor. I swear I gave the person tons of rope first -- including waiting a full week for a response, still not received, from my last email.

3. I caught my dog snoring yesterday. We thought he never snores -- even his dreams are very quiet and involve subtle dog movements -- but he was right next to me and there was no other sound and I heard the incredibly teeny sounds of his teeny weeny snores. Heart melted yet again.

1. I'm enjoying maternity leave. But it makes me wish I could win the lotto.

2. I had lunch with ladies from work yesterday and a friend recovering from surgery today, which was great.

3. My credit union sent out a message about refinancing even if you're underwater so I filled out their form to see what they say. It would be really nice to get a lower interest rate.

4. I'm replacing the chain link fence around the backyard with a wooden privacy fence as the current one has many problems and it doesn't make sense to fix it. There goes my work bonus.

5. And in splurgy news, I brought a tablet (Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700) because woot had new non-refub ones for a great price and my laptop is dying a slow death. Still working to get it set up but so far it's very nice. Happy Mother's Day to me :)

1. My father cocked up his computer. Again. This time it was so slowed down that I couldn't get the anti-virus to respond to start cleaning up the mess, so instead did the factory-settings nuke and started over from scratch. It really makes me mad that my father cannot be bothered to do better, and it makes me mad that I have to clean up his mess every 6-8 weeks or so (once the gap between cleanings was just 2 weeks). I keep telling myself that the next time it happens I'm going to install Linux and he'll have to figure it out on his own... when these things arise there's always something else I'd rather be doing though.

2. My credit union got a report of a merchant breach last week and made the credit card component of my bank card unusable. I can still use it as a debit card or at an ATM, but anything online in particular is off-limit until Wednesday at the latest. It's particularly difficult for me right now because I am visiting my sister in August and I need to be able to purchase plane tickets while the getting is good. I never really knew how much I relied on that Visa layer from day to day (you can't request that you card be used as a debit card at Starbucks, for example) until I'd lost it.

3. I'm playing Fallout 3 (Steam GOTY ed.) these days. Currently trying to wrap up all of my time in Point Lookout. Wondering if I should capitulate and get a Nexus account just to download the nicer texture packs. I found an anonymous one on the Joystiq site but it made my game unstable.

Ooh, koucha, I'm dealing with similar credit card issues while I wait for a replacement card. It is a GIANT pain. :-(
